Anthology II is my personal favourite. Get it first.
They were the most brilliant, powerful, lovable, popular group on the planet. - Q, 1995.

The second CD of Anthology 2 is easily the best of all 6 Anthology CDs.

I'd say the Anthology is essential for all Beatles fans. Not just the die-hard collectors.

It must've sounded damn strange to people when they first heardthe anthology song versions.

Just completed my anthology CD set today. Awesome stuff so far.

Anth II is my favourite of the anthologies, although I and III are really really good too. My favourite song on Anth2 is And Your Bird Can Sing - it's just fing hilarious and it gets me laffing all the time.

;D It sounds as if one of them let one rip or something!

Mr. Kite

2 is the best, so many good songs.

I would agree with all those saying that number 2 on CD is the best. I do not like the first CD much, though there are some good songs on it. The 3rd on I haven't heard in a very long time because that was "borrowed" by a "friend" and I never saw it again. SO I won't make any opinions on the 3rd Antology CD.

BUT, I would agree in saying that if you can only buy one right now- start with Anthology 2!  :D :D
There's a pair of kinky boot beasts!
And they're preparing to attack!

I really need to pick up the anthology CDs sometime soon. By the sounds of it, I should get 2 first.

An Apple Beatle

I got #1 first and was not that into it. Then I got #2 and loved it and then finally #3 and I find it interesting. #2 is the magical one for me. ;)

When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah

I love "helter skelter, even if it's by McCartney !! :)))
RINGO: I'm Ringo and I play the drums
GEORGE: I'm George and I play a guitar
PAUL: I'm Paul and I play a ... eh... bass
JOHN: I'm John and I too play a guitar, sometimes I play the fool

yeah...was it so clear?? ahahha yeah, actually i've always found him a bit "commercial" in his way to do music, sometimes banal, not a big personality if considered alone...but at the end of the day "good" when put together with the other members. I have always seen him like the "bougeois" of the group! And you know what?? There  was a big McCartney concert in Rome (where I live) like 2 years ago, and i decided not to go...could u believe that??? Yeah i didnt go, cos i didn't want to betray my enormous love and respect for John Lennon. I simply said to myself: "what's the point to go and see McCartney?", but anyways i respect Paul and his doing in the band. he must have done something, mustn't he???

Shame to miss the talent for the love of John. I'm sure John wouldn't have minded you going. lol

Anyways, I can't find the thread for Anthology 3 but in sitting in the bath and listening again it made me chuckle when John sings 'Yoko Ono, Yoko, oh yes.' Has this managed to tickle anyone else? lol

I love his playfulness in the studio.
