Mal Evans' Diaries
« on: April 10, 2005, 08:55:39 PM »

We posted awhile back about how interesting Mal's memoirs would be, and wouldn't you know.  Check out the link.

Blimey! Fascinating stuff - I can't wait to read the book! And that's a bit of a revelation about Mal helping Paul with the lyrics to Fixing A Hole and Sgt Pepper!! Strange that Macca has failed to comment.

I wonder why Paul turned so cold towards him - Mal doesn't seem to know the reason. Also shows how poorly the Beatle employees were paid too. Mind you, I'd swap my job for his without a second thought!!!

very interesting read.  Sad about how he got so little pay and no real help there.  Still, he did get to hang with the Beatles for a decade, so not too much sympathy about his monetary problems

From what Mal wrote it certainly sounds like he did - I'm not sure if Mal even knew the reason why! Just a couple of years earlier Mal, Paul and Jane Asher even went on holiday to Kenya together!

I think everyone except Derek Taylor and Nell were left to rot.

I was reading that in his diaries that he loved the band so much and he couldn't understand why he was only taking home 38 pounds/week while others were ripping them blind.

An Q&A with Mal Evans here. He talks about (among other things) his credits for Fixing A Hole: http://s52.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=07X34I4F678LE3EKVF8C55QABK

I don't think it's been published yet Kate.
