While waiting for Maria's ultimate answer which will probably take years of research checking all possible parameters, I shall hasard a futile guess and say three.

Something
Free as a Bird
Real Love
If a question is sloppy, then it's not answerable.

Free As A Bird and Real Love are not regarded as Beatles songs by many afficionados. The original question should have made it clear whether they were eligible or not.

BTW, you don't check parameters with research; you state parameters. Then you research the problem within those parameters.

The End

Good grief! I thought it was pretty obvious: "Out of all the singles released by "The Beatles" on Parlophone/Apple between 1962 to present day..."

Did The Beatles release singles on Parlophone in the US? NO! It should have been obvious, especially to an "afficionado" such as yourself, that I was referring to UK releases!

Did Free As A Bird and Real Love have "The Beatles" written on the record label? YES!

Is it up to YOU to decide what a "Beatles" record is? NO!

Does "present day" mean all their mexican singles released up to 1970? NO!

Please use the thread in the spirit it was intended - and if you don't know the answer, just ask!

End: your stuff in ordinary type, mine in bold.

There ARE other countries than the US and UK. Parlophone is a label in MANY countries. I already told you that (quote: "Parlophone is not just a UK company") but you missed it. I know that Roll Over Beethoven, on Parlophone, was a Beatles A-side in several countries. You didn't mention countries initially, and you should have.

Did Free As A Bird and Real Love have "The Beatles" written on the record label? YES!
Is it up to YOU to decide what a "Beatles" record is? NO!

In fact, this matter is very debatable, and we have discussed it here on this very board. An important aspect of this is that George Harrison was very uncomfortable with what they were doing with John's material and putting it out as Beatles product. As a result, he nixed the third song. You should have been aware of this controversy, and clarified the situation intially.

Does "present day" mean all their mexican singles released up to 1970? NO!

Well, I think you're a sloppy trivia merchant. You slipped up, and I think you know it. Why haven't you got the courage to admit you were slack in your phrasing? I tell you, you'd be lynched at a Trivia Competition with your standards!

LOL ;)

OK, maybe it was a little "sloppy"! BUT, you really don't have to be so picky - I mean it is hardly likely I was referring to any releases on Parlophone other than their UK releases.

If I'm sloppy, you're pedantic! AND you STILL haven't answered the question!

I do have to be picky: otherwise the question is unanswerable. And why is it unlikely you were referring to anything other than UK releases? I'm not a mind reader!

Trivia questions are ALL ABOUT being pedantic!

Finally, here are the answers:

Something
Baby It's You

and, if you consider Anthologies singles as all Beatles material:

Free As A Bird
Real Love

This also assumes the "A-side" of a CD single is the "title track".

The question IS answerable - but obviously not by you! And why would I be referring to anything OTHER than UK Parlophone releases? You don't have to be a mind reader to make an attempt at answering a simple question.

STILL no answer from the trivia queen!

I HAVE answered it! Lord help us! Here it is again, quoted from my post above:

Apologies - you answered the question while I was typing my reply.

It's funny that Zipp managed to post the answers without getting into a pointless debate.

He had two goes at it! He's sloppy!

I had one go, when the question was clear. And got it right.

Now, I understand I get to ask the next one.

On which release do we hear The Inner Light in stereo for the first time?

UK commercial release, please. This is a very easy question; I have much harder ones. But it's always wise to be gentle at first ...

The End

The EP of rarities included with the EP collection.

Well done. Your turn.

Remember, keep the question tightly worded so we can be snappy,  and smooth and uncontroversial.

The End

Thanks for the advice!

Zipp, seeing as you answered the first question correctly before anyone else, I think you should ask the next question.

Thanks for the advice! Aren't you nice

Zipp, seeing as you answered the first question correctly before anyone else, I think you should ask the next question. Still nice. But he had two bites: that shouldn't be allowed. In good trivia contests, you have one go: otherwise, you just encourage random guessing.

The End

All I'm encouraging is a bit of fun - please lighten up.
