I don't remember that place. We used to get our sundaes at Friendly's. And of COURSE the great Carvel.

Jahn's was a Queens and Brooklyn thing.  I think there's only one left now in Forest Hills.

And that's up in Santa Cruz. Known for it's hippies and extreme liberal artsy lifestyle. LA is more like that Mike Judge movie Idiocracy. I mean, aside from the futuristic stuff, that IS LA.

But seriously. It's so huge, there's a place for everyone. Which makes it cool. Plus it's way beautiful.

Thanks for the tip about the flash. I'm still learning how to take a decent picture! So many things to know.

Yes, ad hoc, ad lock and quid pro quo…so little time, so much to know!

;)

The pictures are fine.  But you look like you're not getting enough sleep.

Well, it was a picture you posted.  You looked a little tired, that's all.

Just got back from my short trip up the coast. Have to tutor in the morning. Ugh. And I already feel sick. I think it was something I ate. Sheesh.

Some pics.

Heading up:

Stupid trucks kept going by every time I tried to take a picture of the ocean!!!

Stopping off in Morrow Bay for lunch. Where we ate lunch. A cute little coffee shop in the town. This was one of the few restaurants we could find! The rest were wine tasting shops! I think that's a windmill or something.

My friend's dog who rode with us. This was my view of him for most of the trip. Heh. Apparently, he thought he was our navigator. Arriving at the hotel looking pale and tired for NO sleep and having to get up way EARLY!! And a four hour drive of course. Yuck. The ocean air hasn't hit my hair yet. But soon.  :o

View from my hotel room.

On the patio after a few drinks. Which is why we look so goofy! BTW, everyone thinks my friend Beth is my mom! Bah hah!! She hates it.  Beth's room after our "few drinks." ;D There was one more person with us btw, so we didn't drink ALL that alone!

Going for a hike on the beach. Schroeder (the dog) found a dead seal. ewwww!

Dead seal and dog butt. That's Maggie. Yes, another dog. She's a dog nut this girl. Dog with his great find.

Hair after the ocean air. Then after I had to straighten it AGAIN cuz we were going to town. There's the little village in Cambria.

Where we ate and more of the town.

Inside the restaurant. I look like I just saw a ghost. Yuck.

Day 2. Heading to Wine Country! Woo hoo.

The first vineyard we visited and the dogs that greeted us! There were like 5 of them! So cute.

Inside the tasting room. Another dog. He's the oldest.

On the way out. Feeling good! And visiting with the doggies.

On our way to the next vineyard. This was some vineyard called Castle Something. Hence the "castle."
We skipped it and went to The Grey Wolf Vineyard instead.

There's the wolf! And yet another dog to greet us! This one was so goofy looking. Heh. I like his one tooth sticking out.

Inside the tasting room. And another dog!

After the tasting and pretty buzzed. More hair trouble. Windy day!  Dog saying goodbye.

My view in the car again and a cool house in the hills.

I guess that's it for now. I still have to post pics of the sea elephants and the cool sunset I caught. It was a great trip!

Some more beach houses and their view.

A pink house. Very Simpsons. Wish I took a better pic of it. Someone in the last house must be British. ;)

In town again. I love rubber ducks!!

We ate at a place called The Sow's Ear. So of course they had pig decorations everywhere.

Sun starting to set. We were driving back to the hotel.

This one reminds me of Hotel California. Except I cut the tops of the palm trees off!  >:(

Back at the hotel and getting ready for a hike on the beach. It was FREEZING!

While hiking.

And then the battery went dead and my friend DID NOT bring the charger. So we used my dumb camera phone for the rest of the pics.

You're doing fine with the digital camera, Sondra.  Nice pictures!  Nice to see you having a lovely time ten miles north on Route 1.

My friend's dog who rode with us. This was my view of him for most of the trip. Heh. Apparently, he thought he was our navigator.

On your next trip, he'll think he's the courier.   ;)

Hair after the ocean air. Then after I had to straighten it AGAIN cuz we were going to town.

Hmmm.  You didn't have to straighten it.  I think the ocean air made your hair look really good.  You look like a kid there!

Thanks guys. I love going up the coast. There's SO much to see. I might have to get a digital camera now cuz I loved taking the pics. I was never into it before, but once I got started I couldn't stop

Sea elephants!
There were a lot of European tourists here. Actually, there were a lot in Cambria as well. Heard lots of different accents/languages everywhere we went.

...only to find Gideon's bible...

And another one of our trusty co-pilot!

Okay, that's it! Thanks for indulging me!  ;D ;D

Fab pics! It looks like you had such a nice trip up the coast. I should do something like that one of these days.

BTW, your hair looks good wavy!
