It was amazing. The most exciting part for the kids was actually being in contact with other kids from a different part of the world. They LOVED the video, but were frantically trying to figure out which kid was their penpal! I wish Tracey had had the kids say their names. I think all schools should do something like this. Kids are so open. And it's interesting, they mostly notice the similarities, not the differences in each other. And the differences they do see/learn about thrill them as does anything new and different.
BTW, it wasn't just a Netherlands corner. It's all around the room actually! The butterfly posters have to do with literature, our travel posters are all over, the outside bulletin board was all about what they've learned like art, culture, inventions, sports, etc. Very rich culture. And fun too! For some reason, they were all very obsessed with talking about the cheese. I thought that was pretty funny.
