In honor of Bob Dylan's birthday today, I erased my usual John Lennon happy face and drew Bob instead. Heh. Then I played Dylan music all day.

Some pics from Open House. (Like anyone cares!) THANK GOD IT'S OVER!!!!  :D
Lots of Beatle stuff in the pics. Like Where's Waldo.  ;D

Sorry. I'm carried away.  ;D

Well, I remembered it was on Saint Patrick's Day   ;)

That's a nicely set up and decorated classroom, Sondra.  Very impressive!

My parochial elementary school teachers never did anything like that.  All they did was hide their rulers and pointers.

I did. I could read 'What have we learned about our sister country?', but couldn't read the answer. Did Tracey say hello?

Tracey loved her visit. She said it was the best part of her trip. She's gonna be our "global liaison" for next  year. The kids are all dying to travel to the Netherlands now as are a lot of the parents. But yeah, they learned a lot. I should send you copies of their essays! ;D

Haha, excellent! I even showed her the way to a nearby open air museum. Looking back on the event, it was really a pleasure (and maybe even an act of worldwide peace...) to see the kids being interested in each other. It was absolutely brilliant. As long as all the kids and their parents are not coming all at once, it's fine by me. And send the copies of the essays to Marjolein instead! ;D

It was amazing. The most exciting part for the kids was actually being in contact with other kids from a different part of the world. They LOVED the video, but were frantically trying to figure out which kid was their penpal! I wish Tracey had had the kids say their names. I think all schools should do something like this. Kids are so open. And it's interesting, they mostly notice the similarities, not the differences in each other. And the differences they do see/learn about thrill them as does anything new and different.

BTW, it wasn't just a Netherlands corner. It's all around the room actually! The butterfly posters have to do with literature, our travel posters are all over, the outside bulletin board was all about what they've learned like art, culture, inventions, sports, etc. Very rich culture. And fun too! For some reason, they were all very obsessed with talking about the cheese. I thought that was pretty funny.
