I love poetry! I used to write when I was younger (but I lost my touch/muse).
Here is a poem I love by Lord Byron. It also makes an appearance in Midsomer Murders (which is a series I love as well :) )

So, we'll go no more a roving
So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.

That's one that would have passed me by as a youngster. It seems a lot more poignant to me now.

You are growing up, KE.   :)

Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand

The meter and rhyme of the closing scene is beautiful in French...

  Je crois qu'elle regarde. . .
  Que je pactise?
Jamais, jamais!--Ah! te voilà, toi, la Sottise!
  Je sais bien qu'à la fin vous me mettrez à bas;
N'importe: je me bats! je me bats! je me bats!
. .Mon panache.
