Yes, well said, HeatherBoo!

And it's absolutely driving me crazy so I have to add I also love George's songs on RS and Revolver. I love both of those albums--fun, relevant, and witty. Whew! *wipes brow from the pressure*

Dudes, we're supposed to be listing popular songs that you don't like, not just songs you don't like. From what I know, A Taste of Honey is almost universally loathed and Dig a Pony is not too popular either.

Hmm, well Beatles songs I consider overrated by the general public and some that are too over played for me to enjoy completely.

"Yesterday"
"All You Need Is Love"
"Hello Goodbye"
"She Loves You"
"When I'm Sixty-Four"
"Lady Madonna"

I like 'A Day In The Life', but I do think it's overrated. Why is it that when a famous band releases a long track with lots of different sections, people almost automatically consider it to be one of the best songs ever made? Bohemian Rhapsody and Stairway To Heaven also come to mind here.

I also don't care for most of their bluesier and/or harder rocking songs like Come Together, Don't Let Me Down, Get Back, Helter Skelter, Birthday and I Want You (She's So Heavy). I prefer the "pretty" songs.

I have to agree on A Day In The Life. I find it's universally acknowledged greatness a little perplexing. Not that I don't like it but it doesn't make my top 20. Not mad on Birthday and I Want You either. Also agree on Stairway To Heaven. I think Rain Song is far better.

I really really like ADITL. Lennon's vocal is chilling and (as usual) the production is chilling. As always with George Martin, just enough of everything. Paul's middle section lets it down a bit, but you can't have everything.
Beatle songs that turn me off are;
I Want To Hold Your Hand (more hooks than a Japanese trawler)
Help! (boring. And I hate the lyrics. Contrived.)
Blue Jay Way (Bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbboring)
Savoy Truffle (what's the point)
Good Morning Good Morning (one of those things)
Maxwell's Silver Hammer (silly)
Octopuses Garden (sillier)

I Am The Walrus. (It's just a bunch of nonsense, people! John even said so. Stop trying to pretend that it's anything deeper.)
I Want You (kill me, please. I hate this song SO MUCH)
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (I don't hate it, but I don't see what all the fuss is about either. The acoustic version on LOVE is miles better in my opinion)

Sh*t. My favourite Beatle song. And (I hope) not because I think it's deep. Again, mighty production and great lyrics (even if they are meaningless). And John's vocal delivery is perfect. It's The Beatles (or John) at his/their best - a song that could be about everything or nothing, depending on who's listening to it.
I'm beginning to think I'm more a George Martin fan than a Beatle one. Almost every song I like the highlights are more to do with his work than the band itself (though them being great songwriters obviously helps.)

ps love the sig. Oh where are you Wayne???

It's not a bad song, I just hate it. And it annoys me when people justify their love for it by trying to find meaning. I love Ob-La-Di-, Ob-La-Da but I think we can agree that it's pretty much nonsense.

Let It Be   ---           boring
Hey Jude     ---    Good for the first 3 minutes
Long And Winding Road     ---   Somebody wake me up!
With A Little help From My Friends    ---   Sorry Ringo!
Yellow Submarine   ---   Sorry Again Ringo   (Though I do like the 'Songtrack' remix)
All You Need Is Love   ---  Boring

There seems to be a lot of anti-George songs going on too!  Personally, I love Don't Bother Me-Great use of minor chords, and I think While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a truly monumental song!  Blue Jay Way...love it to bits, and I adore the original mix of It's All To Much...the Songtrack mix killed so much of the lovely swirly feedback guitar sound Sad

Oh, and O-Bla_Di, O-Bla-Da is pretty pointless too!
Cheers,
Steve.

YES! The LOVE version is 500 times better. Maybe Eric Clapton ruined it.  Wink

I agree that the acoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a whole lot better than the regular version.

Help! (boring. And I hate the lyrics. Contrived.)

I think the lyrics just don't fit the song. They would've worked a lot better in a more melancholic song.

Didn't it start off that way?
