It's like using strictly capitals: it looks as if you're shouting at us.

I wonder if anyone knows who was that group of people, on the left hand side by the sidewalk behind that white car – top of Paul’s head? I will post a close up picture later on (the uploader being full)…

Looking closely, it looks as though the group of three, or four (hard to tell) people are stood in and next to a drive-way entrance to a parking area (possibly for offices or flats?). One of the people appears to be holding onto a small child (really hard to tell!!), and one at the front of the group looks to have their arms up towards their face; maybe holding a camera?
They may have come out to see what's going on in the road! The other person, what looks like an older (bald?) man may be heading round the front of that parked car, to get to the drivers' door, and drive-off....
So I would speculate that they were interested employees, or residents, outside sight-seeing!

Oh! And there's one occupant visible through the windscreen of the black police van, in the passenger seat, parked near 'Paul Cole'.... possibly to help control the traffic, or public (if things got a bit 'hectic') during the photo shoot?
Steve.

Well described, Yarvelling. Anyone read anything about these people somewhere ?

Steve.

Thanks for the snapshot, Bobber. A policeman being hired to control traffic, we can presume that it was his assistant sitting in the police van. Iain McMillan (the photographer) added: "The Volkswagen just happened to be standing there. It had been left there by someone on holiday. Nobody with any connection to The Beatles. The policeman tried to move it away for us, but he couldn't".
