Ok folks.  After much request, I'll start a thread for my "namesake" on this board.  I'll start out with a bio of Neil Aspinall from Wikipedia.  This is the most acurate one I've found, especially with his birth date, Oct. 13, 1941.  And then I'll post some pictures and other info.

My husband is totally crazy about the hat that Neil Aspinall wears in the "Anthology" series...  I know it's random but I just had to drop that in. :)

Enjoy the pic!  ;)

^^^^^It's a Kango hat, and it's worn backwards.  I've got one just like it.

How did you get so interested in Neil?

aspinall_lover

^^^^^^It's kinda hard to explain.  It's sorta like he was this mysterious man always in the background of the Beatles' lives and I just got "caught in his web"...........

Here is a piece I had in my Beatles Encyclopedia some years ago:
ASPINALL, NEIL.
Neil was born in Prestatyn, North Wales, on 13 October 1942. His mother had been evacuated there during the blitz on Liverpool and his father was at sea with the Royal Navy. Neil and his mother returned to Liverpool in 1942 when the bombing had ceased and he attended West Derby School, where he passed his 11 plus exams. He next went to Liverpool Institute in Mount Street where he shared the same class as Paul McCartney for English and Art lessons.
George Harrison also attended the school but was in the class one year behind Paul and Neil. Neil was to comment,

Geoff

^ Thanks for that. There isn't a lot of good information about Neil Aspinall available elsewhere on the web apart from what's contained in a few obituaries.

^^^^^^^I agree Geoff.  The Wikipedia version is by far the best I know.  And it's all because of Neil's death.  And thanks Bill Harry!!!  I have your book and that's also a good bio on Neil.

Neil Aspinall and Mal Evans both deserve more attention from biographers. They're both interesting guys in their own right and I suspect that if we knew more about them we would know more about the Beatles.
