Have you seen a Beatle in person?
« on: January 17, 2009, 08:49:59 AM »

I'm not sure if this question has been posed before, but I just wanted to know who here has seen a Beatle, live and in person? If so, you have to tell us which one! Any interesting stories? Has anyone seen all four?

As of now, I've only been lucky enough to see Ringo, which happened at a concert last summer.

I still haven't :( I hope to one day see one of them! Ringo's played around here, most notably (and people who've been on here a while have heard me complain about this since July) Ringo played at a casino about an hour away from where I live, to get into the casinos here you have to be 19, Ringo played that gig ONE WEEK before my 19th!!! I was so mad, pretty much sulked that whole day and complained to my mom that whole day!

I once queued behind Sean Lennon at a Starbucks. He had a Grande White Chocolate Mocha.

Does that count?

Not too many Star F**kers in Starbucks that day, surprisingly. I don't know if anyone else recognised him.

Maybe they just didn't care? Where did you see him? As in what country/city? Cuz sometimes that makes a difference too.

It was in New York, in 2006. I should have asked him for an autograph, but to sign it 'John Lennon's son'. That would've gone down well.

PS John looks deceptively handsome in that avatar of yours. Has it been photoshopped?

Erm, probably not, since Sean was never a Beatle. But it's interesting that you saw him, though.

I have seen Paul once in concert and Ringo three times. The last time I saw Ringo, a few years ago, I was in the 4th row center stage. It was INCREDIBLE! When you are that close you can literally tell when you make eye contact, you can feel it. I had a sign that said I LOVE YOU RINGO. I held it up several times, but he kept turning away and I didn't want to bother the people behind me. Finally, I held it up one last time and he saw it. He stopped what he was doing and came right to the edge of the stage and said, into the microphone, "I love you too, sweetheart."

It was one of those moments in life where you have the opportunity to be totally cool, and I could have just smiled and waved and been cool about it. Such was not the case however. :) as many of you can probably sympathize, I instead promptly burst into hysterical tears and dropped the sign. Ringo probably thought I was totally out of my mind. :) Everyone around me was like "you're so lucky!" and one woman said "Can I be you?" I bawled through the next song and a half - I didn't TRY to, I was just SLIGHTLY caught off guard by having a BEATLE, and my favorite one at the time, tell me he LOVED ME. :)

If you get a chance to see either live, if they tour again, don't pass it up. They are close to done - it's worth every penny!

I first saw both George and Ringo entering Apple studios in Saville Row in London in july 1972. I asked both for an autograph, but got none. It was too many "apple scruffs" standing at the enterance.
Later that summer, I sat on the second row in Njårdhallen i Oslo when Wings had their only concert in Norway.
In 1989 I met Paul at a brief pressconference in front of his concert in Drammenshallen in Norway. There I got an album signed by him.
I saw him twice, on concert in Oslo Spectrum in 1994, and at his concert at the stadium Valle Hovin (Oslo) in 2005, I think it was.

I was never lucky enough to see og meet John Lennon.

Beside this I met Denny Laine at the lunchroom in EMI studios Abbey Road, when Wings were recording "Back to the eg". Later that day I visitd a jamsession in Studio 1, but had to leave before Paul and Linda arrived. Linda I met outside the studio as I was walking out of the building.
