Paul McCartney - (I Want To) Come Home. From the "Everybody's Fine" OST, out on 4 December 2009. New song.
For so long I was out in the cold And I taught myself to believe Every story I told It was fun hanging onto the moon Heading into the sun But it's been too long Now I want to come home Came so close To the edge of defeat But I made my way in the shade Keeping out of the heat It was fun shooting out of the stars Looking into the sun But it's been too long Now I want to come home Home where there's nothing but sweet surrender To the memories from afar Home to the place Where the truth lies waiting We remember who we are For too long I was out on my own Every day I spent trying to prove I could make it alone It was fun hanging onto the moon Heading into the sun But it's been too long Now I want to come home For so long I was out in the cold But I taught myself to believe Every story I told It was fun hanging onto the moon Heading into the sun But its been too long Now I want to come home Yeah it's been too long Now I want to come home Been too long Now I want to come.

Beautiful!! Macca never runs of amazing melodies for me and the lyrics are quite heart felt too!

Oh dear, this doesn't sound very good to me at all. The lyrics are very cheesy, and quite badly constructed. The melody's not up to much either. Shame, I quite enjoyed some of The Fireman album, but this sounds like something he would have thrown in the trash 15 years ago. 2/10
And if anyone says his voice still sounds great...

Have to agree with BM. For a man on whom you can at least rely for a great melody that's as flat as a pancake. I t just sounds really shoddy and badly put together. He really sounds like he's not even trying anymore (I hope so, because if he is trying and this is the best he can do then that's really sad.) I don't expect him to create a masterpiece, just a decent song.

Hmmm thanks for posting Sewi......The montage makes me feel like Paul has passed already. Bit of a 'bang another one out' tune...I'd like to hear something a bit more layered on the harmonies. Damn! I'd love to get that man in the studio. lol

Was it written FOR the film, or did he just grab the nearest song lying around? And what's the film about? It may not make a difference but enquiring minds need to know. For the record, I don't mind it but in my heart of hearts I know that's not the sort of thing you should say about a good song!!

I sadly have to agree with the posters who say they hope he ISN'T trying, because it would be sad indeed if this were his best attempt at a new song. It's not terrible, but it just doesn't seem up to his standards (the production sounds very mediocre to me...). I think Paul's voice is actually suited better for heavier more "rockish" sounds; it sounds too rough and wavering for this ballad. Although, I've watched fairly recent clips of him singing "Yesterday" and "Blackbird" and I think he sounded great. Maybe his heart just wasn't in this song?

I do not think it is a bad song at all.It is sad but maybe because of the plot of the film.I like it since the 4th listenning or so and it is something usually happens to me with Paul music:strange chords and/or melody at first but a grower later.

One of the flattest most monotone songs i've ever heard him do. His voice sounded awful and the song came across as something he threw together in two minutes.
It depresses me because songs like this keep me thinking theres just not much left in the tank.

If you get dissapointed with Paul not releasing what you expect him to release then why not release it yourself.
This sounds more like trad macker than anything since the burnt pudding.
