Here A Story that came out today!
And so it goes on: the interminable wait for a deal that would make the Beatles music available on the Web. Instead, Apple Corps. Ltd., which manages the Beatles' legacy, and EMI, the band's record label, have announced the release of a limited-edition USB flash drive preloaded with Beatles songs for $280, just in time for the holidays.

Buy the Beatles Digitally and Legally

But EMI is not just filing lawsuits. It is ramping up for the holidays with the Fab Five on a digital stick.

The label is selling 30,000 16 GB Apple-shaped USB drives available, each containing 14 albums in FLAC format -- better-than-CD quality -- and high-quality MP3. Also included are 13 short films about the albums, art, photos and expanded liner notes. The USB drives load automatically on Macs and PCs and will be released Dec. 8, just in time for the holidays

we can all go back to speculating when The Beatles will be available on iTunes."

The full Story can be found here!

Not sure. But I never understood the whole fuzz about the downloads anyway. You can download Beatles songs anywhere on the internet. It's not legal, but so what. It's the internet. And if you want to have Beatles on your iPod, why not just rip the remastered cd's or whatever cd's and there you go.

Well I don't think so EMI is trying to shut it down. I don`t download music or I would lose my job! So I don't go on those type of sites. EMI should let Itunes other sites sell Downloads. EMI holds all the cards in the matter. The Beatles Don`t have anyway to force EMI to allow Digital Downloads. The Beatles Tried buying the tapes and tried Suing EMI for them. The judge stated that EMI paid for the Studio time and the tapes. They own them!

A restraining order was issued in the Bluebeat case

A judge has issued a restraining order in the case of Capitol Records vs. Bluebeat.com. Late Thursday evening, the Bluebeat website was still up, but trying to call up the music files of the Beatles brought up the error message "Sorry, that item can't be found for sale." Albums and songs by other artists were still available.

The usb Apple looks delicious. I'm a sucker I guess, but I couldn't resist it. I've already pre-ordered it.

The timing of the product seems odd - I would have thought that it would have been better coming out with the whole 09-09-09 schtick.

It is also rather expensive for digital media. If they were selling the USB port without the music files for around $50 I may have been tempted.

I can rip my own CDs, thanks Mr Apple Executive.

That was pretty much my reaction.  Grin

I was planning on ripping my CDs, but I can never find the time, so I thought I might as well buy the beautiful shiny thing.

Sorry to be thick and computer illiterate, but when it says audio AND VISUALS, what does it mean by visuals? Full versions of AHDN and Help? or just the odd clip from Anthology? What would one get for one's £200 quid?

^they mean the mini-documentaries that were on each disc.

As for the USB drive this seems like a cash-in on Apple's part. That's a new one.  :Smiley
