Only 10 minutes to shoot the cover of Abbey Road, when it could have been crappy & turned into a masterpiece.

14 different animals are mentioned in songs on The White Album.

We've got the list with the 18 (?) songs with girl names in the title ... have you got the list with the animals, BlueMeanie? ... some are obvious: horse (pony), pig, bird (blackbird), dog (bulldog), monkey, tiger, elephant, octopus, walrus, ... but

"The wind is low the birds will sing" - Dear Prudence
"I told you about the walrus and me now" - Glass Onion
"He went out tiger hunting with his elephant and gun" - The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
(Tiger is mentioned again later in the track)
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night" - Blackbird
"Have you seen the little piggies..." - Piggies
"Rocky raccoon checked into his room" - Rocky Raccoon
"The eagle picks my eye; the worm he licks my bone" - Yer Blues
"Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey" - You know the title of this one!
"But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao" - Revolution 1 (just kiddding....or am I?)
"With a message at the local bird and bee" - Cry Baby Cry

Dogs are mentioned in Revolution9, but I don't think that counts.  So, I get 14 animals (including Chairman Mao) and a couple of them a doubled up in the same track.  How many did I miss?

Here's another clue for you all; the Walrus was Paul...

Henry the Horse, I Dig A Pony, Hey Bulldog, Octopus's Graden ... it seems that there were several references!

True, although Blue Meanie was talking the animal references on The White Album and that's what I tried to list.

Henry The Horse was mentioned on Sgt. Pepper's
I Dig A Pony was a track on Let It Be
Hey Bulldog was a track on The Yellow Submarine Soundtrack
Octopus's Garden was a track on Abbey Road

After reading your question:

So, I get 14 animals [...] How many did I miss?

... and knowing that BlueMeanie said that there were was 14, I thought that maybe you were asking how many other references there were (or you had missed)   ...

I'm sorry, maybe I can't count (yeah, OK, I've never been good at maths...) but apart from Chairman Mao I can only see eleven, because the "bird" from "Cry Baby Cry" is mentionned already in "Dear Prudence". So I think we should include the dogs in Revolution 9 and:

Dogs for dogging, hands for clapping
Birds for birding and fish for fishing

Like a lizard on a window pane - Happiness is a warm gun

Some more interesting stuff :

The day when John took LSD and went to the roof at 11.00pm approx. Norman Smith and Pink Floyd visited the studio (he was producing their first LP, "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" in other sector of Abbey Road the same night). Later rumours appeared that "What's the Shame Merry Jane (What's the New Marry Jane) was recored by Pink Floyd and the Beatles).

9th November 1967 - First issue of "Rolling Stone" magazine and John as Private Gripweed appears on cover.

Frank Zappa, in an interview for the magazine "Disc And Music Echo", affirms that John was right when he said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.

Thanks, nousha!!!
I didn't know that Norman Smith and Pink Floyd were at the studio when John took LSD by accident and that Frank Zappa said that!
I can't find so many animal references either ...

John Lennon refused to wear glasses when he played live. There is one notable exception to this, July 2 1966 when as part of a hastily arranged Japanese tour he wore a pair of his trademark gold rimmed glasses.
