born March 2nd, 1953 (ten years and five days after my fellow Piscean Beatle, Mr. Harrison) so yeah, DEFINITELY old enough to have lived through the Beatles hey days..
When I was 8 or 9 my sister was playing Eleanor Rigby, and I was like "WOW, who is this?" "The Beatles!" And I was talking about that song for weeks So for my 10th birthday my dad got me the White Album on cassette
Hello, new life. Really, that first tone of Back in the USSR changed me. A lot.
I guess I've known the Beatles songs all my life, but nothing really "got in," mainly because I was never a "music person" growing up. I was a "TV person," and that was it.
I didn't start getting into music until 1989/90. Anyway, in 1993, I was in a record store, and lo and behold, what do mine eyes see before me, but big display cases, one red, one blue, both holding BEATLES! Yes, it was the release of the Red and Blue albums, and I picked up both, immensely curious to what was contained inside.
Well, I ain't never looked back since. Its been a great journey so far.
While I always knew they existed, I really first got exposed to them when I was 19 years old, when I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada from the Bronx, NY in 1989.
Its funny. And to keep a long story short ... I was into NewWave when I was in New York, and was very contemporary in the music I listened to. When I got to Vegas, I found nothing but country, dance music, and oldies.
Out of the three options, I chose Oldies. And I'm glad I did - I discovered so much great music, that I spent 99.9% of my time at college just sitting in the library reading about these bands. (it also explains why I never finished college.) Well, long story short (didn't I just say that), I heard the Beatles on the Oldies station, and really got interested.
My interest finally peaked when the "Red" and "Blue" CD's were released in 1993.
Yeah, me too. By the way, when you born, Andy? I was born in May 22, 1988.
Wingsman, we have the same birthday. I was born May 22, 1986.
I discovered the Beatles when I was a fetus in my mom's belly and she would sing Beatles lullabies to me! Hehe. She always told me I was a Beatles fan before I was born. I don't ever remember a time when I dared think there was anything better than the Beatles.
Also, the first book I ever learned to read was an illustrated book with the lyrics to Imagine. I'd say my parents raised me right.
It was in 1999 I ws bored and thaught I'd go through my parents CD's and came across The Beatles I picked up The Past Masters Vol 1 Album and after hearing "She Loves You" it just came to that started buying Posters etc and here I'am
