When did you first hear of The Beatles? Was it through their films or maybe a track you heard on the radio? What makes their music so special to you? Can you remember what it was that suddenly made you think "wow"?
for me it was on sunday september 9th 1984,I was listening to a beatles a--z weekend on 1310 kaam here in dallas texas. I got out my old cassette radio and recorded about 8 tapes of beatle music, though i didnt know that they mixed in some solo too. from there, i started buying all their records, I even got a job to pay for them. I met a cool guy named jon, who has become like a brother to me,he has shown me that the solo music is very good too. from 1984--1989 I bought all the vinyl beatles and solo albums and singles. then in 1990, I rebought everything on cd. right now, I own everything beatles and solo on cd. I have seen paul 4 times in concert and ringo 7 times in concert. what started out as a teen becoming a beatles fan has become a father and son loving them together. i am so glad to share my collection with my son, theres more to the beatles than yellow submarine. that's my story and i'm sticking to it.
wow, you remeber the date! hey, welcome to Dm's awc1967! enjoy your stay!
thank you andy, its great to be here. btw, my son's name is andy too. well, i remember the date because i wrote it down and over the years have memorized it. i have followed the beatles for 24 years now, some great moments and some bad ones too. but they are like family to me. paul and ringo are like uncles who give me presents ( music). memory almost full and liverpool 8 are such great gifts.
Like Beatles fans used to get in the good old days. *gnashes teeth with envy*

"The Beatles saved the world from boredom." -George Harrison
"Well I'm getting happier all the time, which is very nice." -Ringo Starr
Well I had listened to their most famous song since I've been like 12 year olds (Eleanor Rigby, Hey Jude, Let it Be and that stuff) and I liked it... I wasn't fan then...
Then like 1 and a half year ago I was looking through a download site I'm a member too and I wanted to try out some new music and I saw all the Beatles albums where there and I downloaded them and the first album I liked with them was Help! and one of my first favorite song with them is I Need You and It's my favorite song now with them too.
Lamely enough I actually discovered them through the Anthology TV series in late '95. I was 18 and was not really familiar with their music. I saw the I Am The Walrus video and thought "wow, these guys were a lot more wild than I realized" - and have pretty much been addicted to their music ever since. At first I was mainly interested in their later music (Rubber Soul on for the most part) but now I have a great appreciation for their earlier stuff as well.
I'm just as lame, MeAndMyMonkey-- or even moreso, as I missed episode 1 and my sister made me watch Anthology installment #2.
In any case, welcome to the forums!

"Its me active compensation factor is the reason I play the drums."
It was '75 or '76, I can't remember........too long ago........flipping around on my dad's huge, ancient, home-made stereo system in the living room. I was flipping through the radio stations and then I HEARD IT........"drmmmm...It's Been A Hard Day's Night, and I've been working like a dog.........." My mouth hung open and I just stared at the receiver thinking, "Who is this, WHO IS THIS"??? And at the end of the song, "That was the Beatles with A Hard Day's Night". Ok..........that was the end of the world for me. Begging my mom to take me to the local record shop and spend all my money on the Beatles' records. But I had to wait until my birthday to do that, and that's when my first two albums were, "1962-66" and "Rock'n'Roll Music". After that, I wanted it ALL!!!

I'm a self admitted music addict, and a music snob. I listen to everything, and I do mean everything. But value songwriting and composition over sheer catchy-ness of a song. The Beatles are just one of those bands that I started listening to at an early age via my parents and went from liking the 'All My Loving' type songs to getting into the later stages and lesser played tracks. Now I'm an addict.
