I was born about 4 years after The Beatles officially broke up. My parents of course grew up loving them in the 60s. So I have been exposed to Beatles music probably for all of my life. When I was re-introduced to the song "Woman" by John I realized that I associated it with being driven to the daycare center in the little Chevette. That would have been just after John was murdered. Still, as a young child, this was my parents music and I wasn't surely wasn't interested in any of that. I had Duran Duran and Prince to deal with. It wasn't until 1986 when I was rooting around in my parents old LPs that I came across their Beatles records. I was 11 going on 12. I don't know what made me listen then. I wonder if I was drawn to their faces? I guess it doesn't matter. I literally couldn't get enough and I was fortunate enough to come around to the Beatles at a time when they were resaturating the media. It was around that time that MTV was showing the old Beatles cartoons on Saturday mornings and video clips. And then there was the 20th Anniversary of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band release. I had been getting just enough exposure as a 2nd generation to get me hooked for life. My parents couldn't be happier that we share a mutual love for the Beatles.
Nowadays, when I come across people who aren't fans or who aren't familiar with The Beatles, I either feel sorry for them or I want to know what the hell is wrong with them.
Hi everyone. I just joined today as I never knew this board was here. I remember discovering the Beatles this way. Eleanor Rigby was in one of our books in school as a poem. One of the guys asked the teacher if he could bring in the record so we could hear the song. So he brought in The Beatles 62-66 and played the song for the class. At lunchtime that day he played some of the other songs and I remember saying to myself, i know these songs but didn't kno wfrom where. Then it hit me, my brither and sister are 9 and 11 years older than I am and I heard them blasting them when I was younger. That is the start of what became a great lifelong experience. In fact, Im going to see Ringo June 24th at Radio City Music hall in New York City and its going to be the first time i will get to see one of the guys in person. I missed Paul 3 years ago due to illness. i plan on taking alot of pics so if you al lik eI will post and share a day or so after the concert. Im sitting in the 10th row so they should be great shots. That is when my hands stop shaking..lol
I woke up one day and started singing: 'she lufta yeh yeh yeh'. I was about 2 years old I guess and The Beatles were there to stay. I am lucky for that.
Funny, but this is one of those very distinct, crystal clear memories. My big brother and his fiancee in the front seats of his car, me and my best buddy in back. Autumn, 1963. Night. We were being driven to our local theater to be dropped off to see an Elvis movie. Girls Girls Girls? Anyway, She Loves You came on the top 40 station, WLS, my bro turned it up and said "This is that band from England with the long hair!" I was hooked, and have remained so.
I first met The Beatles when my uncle asked me to watch Help ! with him, the second beatles movie. I was very, very amazed how the songs were a bit familiar to me. I couldn't forget about them,i started collecting Beatles stuff.I first became a Beatles fan when i was 9 yrs. old. The Beatle that was glued in my mind was a Beatle named John. I started researching and reading books about The Beatles to increase my knowledge about them.
He went out tiger hunting with his elephant and gun, in case of accidents he always took his mom.
I was always hearing stories and things about The Beatles as the greatest, biggest and the best rock band in the world. The first song I've ever heard is "Yesterday". It was on a radio I think. Later I heard and watched John Lennon performing "Imagine" on TV. I loved the song. At the time I didn't know who was the woman in the video - Yoko Ono. Later, my friend gave me The Beatles' 1 to listen and I liked the songs. From time to time I managed to get all albums. To this day The Beatles are probably my favorite band of all time.
I'm only 17 years old, so my knowledge on The Beatles is quite limited. So you could consider me a newbie. I've been listening to differents genre's of music for all my life and I've always loved the well known songs of The Beatles. Then my father gave me some Beatles LP's and CD's he owned from way back and I fell in love with their music.
