I had heard of the Beatles for years, but I didn't really get into them until I was in fifth grade (so many years ago).  My teacher had showed us "A Hard Day's Night" because he was a Beatlemaniac himself and I was instantly hooked.  I loved the Beatles' energy, humor, and music (not to mention Paul).  Their music is special to me because it helped me get through my adolescent years, and I still listen to the Beatles when I go through hard times.  They always help lift my spirits.  Aside from that, their music is just plain awesome...  I love how their songwriting skills matured throughout the years, but even as their music changed they still retained their unique "Beatle" sound.

Octie, thanks for the welcome.    I do feel very lucky that I had a Beatlemaniac teacher.  (I believe he was an old-school fan from 1964.)  Not only did he make us watch "AHDN", but we listened to the Beatles' music in class and I even learned how to play some of their songs (and some solo works) on the guitar.  The teacher was great in lots of ways, but introducing me to the Beatles was among the very best things he did.  That by itself changed my life forever.

I kinda had a teacher like that in high school too.  She had an Abbey Road poaster in her class and then when we were doing work she'd have the radio on and when Yesterday came on the one day she made us all shut up and listen to it.  Not as awesome as yours having you watch AHDN there Penny Lane!

I discovered The Beatles when my dad showed me his old vinyls when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Sitting among the very many Elvis, Bob Dylan, and Creedence Clearwater Revival records my dad had were 3 Beatle albums: Sgt. Pepper's, Abbey Road, and the U.S. version of Revolver. I liked the latter two, but I was memorized with every aspect of Sgt. Pepper's. I'd read the lyrics as I listen and study the cover during instrumental breaks. I loved...and still love, just everything about it.

I had an Eco teacher who liked the Beatles - he played their music during class!
And a friend of mine also got to watch AHDN for her English class.

Well, I can remember the first Beatles song I've heard was 'Yellow Submarine' in my
father's car radio. Then, five years later, one of my friends became obsessed with them, and was ALWAYS singing their
songs. Then, the same year, American idol decided to do their Beatles week, and I liked the songs, so...these three factors all
contributed to my Beatle obsession. Now that I look back, I realise that the 'idols' really butchered the songs  *slaps self*

^Oh yeah, NZ Idol had Beatles Song week too. Some of them really bitchered the songs but there was a 13yr old who sang The Long and Winding Road so sweetly!

i was at the theatres early last year when i saw a trailer for across the universe and it looked soo good and the music was incredible. so i went home and i started watching the trailer constantly and downloading the music. it's amazing how obsessed you can become with a band and learn about them in just about two years. they're my favourite band now!

I know exactly what you mean - I've also only been a "proper" fan for about 2 years, and I am majorly into them

I have been a fan for almost a year, or about 10 months. In orchestra we were playing Beatles songs. First we were doing Lucy in The Sky w/ Diamonds so I bought a covered song of it on it iTunes without thinking. When my friend comes over i play it for her and she says, "That sounds horrible! You should listen to the original." So we go on youtube and she shows me the REAL version from the Yellow Submarine movie and i loved it. A few months later we were playing another Beatles song and my teacher suggests we listen to it on youtube. So one day I look up Lady Madonna and I really liked it so i kept clicking on the related videos. I kept researching more and more info and now I am obsessed. That is my story.

Cool! i never played The Beatles when I was in orchestra, but i did have a teacher who played them in class!

That's very cool.  I was not a part of my middle school's orchestra, but my friends were.  One day they learned that they would have to play the Beatles' "When I'm Sixty-Four" song for a concert, and they promptly reported that back to me (since I was the resident Beatles fan in our circle).

BTW, I like how you got "obsessed" with the Beatles via YouTube.  I wish I had the luxury of YouTube videos when I first started liking the Beatles!  (The Internet was just a baby back then so YouTube did not exist.)
