It amazes me that a lot of people choose Love You To. An extremely unnecessary song in my opinion.
I used to think that too. But when I put my 66 ears on I realise what an astonishingly brave and innovative piece of work it is. It adds a real dash of colour to Revolver. The Indian thing might have been a dead end, but it definately showed that the boundaries of rock were coming apart. In the context of the time and the album I think it's a great song. Listen to Rubber Soul/Pet Sounds/Aftermath/Highway 61 and then Revolver and that shimmer of sitars sounds like it's from another planet. I wouldn't put it on my Ipod (if I had one) to listen to outside of that context though. |
