Now you just shut it right there! Sorry, but I despise Ice. Have the desire to take him to the ghetto just so he can get the mess beat outta him. Speaking of Eminem, I'm downloading a mash-up he did with Echoes, which gets us back on topic to Floyd. |

Well at least he has good taste in music if he's choosing Floyd. But i really wish people would leave Pink Floyd's music alone already. I've yet to hear one cover or whatever do justice to the original. What's the point. |

Marshall knows his Floyd. Even went so far as to dedicate Mosh to Roger at Live8 and reference The Wall in the D12 song Revalation: I don't wanna go to school I don't need no education I don't wanna be like you I don't wanna save the nation Daddy, I just wanna live my life Everyday a celebration Someday, I'ma leave this world I wait for the revelationWhatever You Say I Am and Whats Goin' On both strike me as very Watersian tracks. |

Saw a documentary on Floyd in the 90's, which revealed that they were trained as architects. A musicologist went on to say that this influenced their music because they 'knew what to do with a line in a space', which explains how in the first few minutes of Wish You Were Here, hardly anything happens musically, but it still keeps the attention. Interesting stuff. |

They needed a lot of 'space' for their music so that description suits quite well. |

I suppose Pink Floyd became the architects of music. I like to think that they 'took over' from The Beatles, when the Fab Four dropped the musical complexity of 1967. Also, though some might deny this, I really think Floyd were ultimately founded on The Beatles anyway. |

Yes, I'm still not entirely sure myself. I suppose it would have to be 'from the horses mouth', i.e. Waters and co. saying that they were definitely inspired by Beatles. But, I reckon no other band sounded as similar to The Beatles, at points, as Pink Floyd. |

I don't think anyone can deny that. Most trained Floydians know of Barrett's obsession with Lennon and being like Lennon. Also, I have come up with an interpretation of the cover of Sgt. Pepper's that it is a possible metaphor for floyd by The Beatles themselves. Crazy, I know, but look at The Beatles, dark, sollen, much more serious and somber than The Beatles, standing next to Sgt. Pepper's band, a chippy group all in phychedelic colors. They are here, at the grave, where the old Beatles of the early-mid 60s funeral is taking place. The New Beatles (Sgt. Pepper's) stand in the center with a small army of followers (the fans they have garnered, also attending the funeral), and to the side, with know fans behind them, the "Beatles" (Pink Floyd). I know its crazy, but its a cool interpretation, isn't it? |

I agree. As well as ELP, The Moody Blues, Yes, Genesis, and many others. But in 1969 when they released Music From The Film More Floyd took The Beatles and added a Dylanesque texture to it that remains truly classic. |

These are good points, and I accept them. Especially ELO. But, how much were these bands sounding like the Beatles in the '60s? That's really what I meant - in the sixties. |
