Good sites, all. I hang out mostly at http://www.pinkfloydonline.com, for no better fact then people know me there, but Brain Damage is probably the best news site.

Syd Barret is as mythic in rock as Dylan is in folk/rock. I don't care HOW weird and eccentric he was, he WAS Floyd.

but I have to give high props to Gilmore. If ANYONE could fill Barret's formidable shoes, Dave could...and did.

Waters is a blowhard w/ a good voice.

I could rant forever about P. F. ...but it would take YEARS, so I wont.

*everybody cheers*

r.i.p Syd..shine on you crazy diamond.

I watched The Wall on Friday for the first time in ages; I forgot how much I love this movie. Best scenes (IMO) are Empty Spaces/What Shall We Do Now, Young Lust/One of my Turns, and Comfortably Numb/In the Flesh?

Poles Apart

Did you know...it was all going to go so wrong for you
And did you see it was all going to be so right for me
Why did we tell you then
You were always the golden boy then
And that you'd never lose that light in your eyes

Hey you...did you realize what you'd become
And did you see that it wasn't only me you were running from
Did you know all the time but it never bothered you anyway
Leading the blind while I stared out the steel in your eyes

The rain fell slow, down on all the roofs of uncertainty
I thought of you and the years and all the sadness fell away from me
And did you know...
I never thought that you'd lose the light in your eyes

IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL! Haven't listened to this song for quite some time, but I am now- I forgot how stunning it is

But every so often you come across something truly inspiring...

Division Bell doesn't seem to have dated too badly. Momentary Lapse sounds awful to me now, and I really loved it at the time.

I love their Dark side of moon, Wish you were here & Animals period & some of their
later stuff, but don't like much of the early period. i love Syd Barrett's solo stuff but never
liked Piper at Gates of Dawn.

In the beginning of December was released "Oh, By The Way" - box set of all the standard Pink Floyd albums. I read that there are no bonuses, except for a specially designed poster. Amazon doesn't ship for Bulgaria, so I'm just going to complete my CD collection by buying some PF's albums the regular way

P.F.! *I never saw this thread before... blind me*

I never did warm up to Dark Side of the Moon... The Wall is a great album in my opinion. Gonna watch the movie today

I read a Rolling Stones article on the anniversary of Piper at Gates of Dawn ... it was interesting.

I love all the albums from Piper through to Final Cut. I like a few songs on Lapse and Bell but mostly those albums leave me cold. I like Roger Waters' and Syd Barrett's solo work the most. I only like "No Way Out of Here" from Dave's solo stuff and "Pink's Song" from Rick Wright but I've yet to hear Broken China.
