Some Lads and I are forming a new Beatle tribute band, and although the most popular theme is the early Beatles in suits(almost overdone as far as tributes go), I'm wondering if people would like to see the later Beatle Look( white album ,Let it be, Abbey Rd, Rooftop) and also include the later material as well as a blast from the early years. Ala "The concert that never was". Does that sound like something anyone would like to see?

Not me, personally. I am not a fan of faux-Beatles. But that's just me.
There are a LOT of Beatle tribute bands, some good, some not. Big ones and smaller ones. Almost as popular as fake Elvis's.
Of course, you SHOULD do it, if for nothing else your own amusement and to see if you can. And you will gather fans I'm sure along the way, until you find that you are indeed doing it.

If it's done REALLY well, dressing up like the fabs can be quite effective. In my experience though, most tribute bands look very lame, especially when simulating the later period - all false moustaches and dodgy wigs!
I think a good theme would be an "Unreleased Beatles" band, just playing their unreleased and little known numbers - BBC sessions, Anthology, out takes etc. A REAL Beatle fans band!

Check out the newly formed 'The Apple Beatles'. No fake wigs or moostash's. Playing some early stuff but then flickin on to The Word, She Said, Dr. Robert, Abbey Rd. Medley, Helter Skelter, I Got A Feelin to name but a few.
I've loved puttin this together and we go for being A Fan Passion band rather than a 'tribute' Unfortuneately tribute has become a loose term. We just choose our favourite era of Beatle to dress as. I.E. Me (McCartney), got a great magical mystery tour tank top and real specially grown 'Let it BE' beard, Guy doin Lennon a Shea jacket etc. etc.
Our biggest sales pitch is to imagine if the Beatles on the rooftop being allowed to play longer and what kinda stuff they would have done.
Another tip, get a 'Billy Preston' with a real rhodes if your doin the later stuff....you'll need him!!!
Good Luck!!!
As long as you love the harmonies, the depth and the vibe and put that across, people will love it!!!!!!!!
Sounds pretty cool........to me, I like the tribute bands to simply play like the Beatles, not look like them, so it's great that you guys aren't doing the whole fake moustache thing and all...

I think the best beatles tribute band is 'The Beats', from Argentina. Or at least they used to be the best, they won an award in 96 and 97 for being the best tribute band and they were praised by Derek Taylor and Allan Williams because they sounded just like the Beatles! They played a few times in Liverpool (at the Cavern) and toured around the world. Here are some pics of The Beats:

No one will ever beat the beatles tribute band Rain. They put on shows from each era.
My art teacher saw them in Tahoe when they came by.....was a birthday present from his wife. He said it was fantastic, and that they even do a Beatle number or two with new arrangements to show what they might have sounded like today. Definitely sounds/looks (from the website) intriguing.
