from the music guide:

Quoted Text
The bouncy "All Those Years Ago" is a definite gain, being the most heartfelt song on the record as well as a de facto Beatles reunion (Starr plays drums and Paul and Linda McCartney overdubbed backing vocals)

However, only Ringo is mentioned in the album credits

How do you know? Did you witness it?

I know it says that in the track info, but he thanks George Martin and Geoff Emerick for All Those Years Ago which leads me to think they may have been producer and engineer.

And I could smell a McCartney bassline, it's that distinctive.

I'll answer you in this way:

No one has EVER suggested Paul plays bass on ATYA, except you the other day. It doesn't sound like Paul McCartney's playing to me.

Further, George Harrison thanks Martin and Emerick because they had been involved in the McCartneys & Denny Laine adding their backing vocals. Martin and Emerick certainly did NOT produce/engineer the song's main recording. The main recording was done at FPSHOT. The McCartneys/Laine vocals were added elsewhere.

Everything I said is a matter of record.

That doesn't mean that the "record" can't be wrong, but you'll have to give good reasons if you're going against the flow.
