Quoted from Maccalvr
Okay, we talked about this about a year ago here somewhere, but now it's coming true. Mike Myers and Roger Daltrey are producing a movie about Keith Moon and MYERS is playing Moon. Isn't he a bit old to be playing Moon? Not to mention several other things that are SO wrong with that casting. I still stand firm on my first choice. Jason Schwartzman. Good actor, young, looks like Moon, and is a DRUMMER! Oh well, I just hope they don't portray him as a drunken fool. I mean, there was more to him. Really. The lovely Keith Moon Jason Schwartzman. Not a bad imitation of the original
now there is the man for the job... what a ressemblance |

He did a great job in that studio 54 movie? Why not him as Keith Moon? |

First of all, he's too old. Moon was 32 when he died and Mike's in his 40's. I mean, that's fine for the end of Moon's life, but when he joined the band he was 17. Myer's is gonna pull that off? Second of all I don't think they look a thing alike. And third, if there's an actor out there like Jason Schwartzman who not only looks like him but is a good actor AND a drummer, I think Mike should put his ego aside and try to get a better qualified actor for the part. Also, I hope they don't make Moon out to be a bafoon because they have some comedian playing him. They should get a real Brit to do it and forget both actors. I just cannot see Mike Myers as Keith Moon. Not at all. |

Mike Myers don't look like Keith Moon, in no way. Maybe we'll have to wait and see if he can do it. |

I would have thought their main concern was the actors ability to catch the essence of the character, rather than just physical resemblence. Then Mike might well have the humour and pathos to carry it off. |

It doesn't hurt when there's at least some resemblance. Of course that's not the only concern. That's why I thought Schwartzman would be a good choice cuz he's got both. I still think Myers is too old. Do we really need to suspend our belief that much when there are actually young actors that can act and are funny? If you've seen Schwartzman in any of his movies, he's pretty funny too. But that's besides the point. It's Mike and I just have to get used to it or not go to the movie I guess!! Maybe he'll surprise us all. |

I can't remember the name of the Bill Murray movie he was in at the moment, but they even played A Quick One in the background when they were showing him plotting something. That's when it hit me about his resemblance. He was great as Max in that movie. |

It's difficult for me to imagine Mike Myers playing anyone other than Austin Powers. |

He did some amazing things, but I cant really say he was the best. I cant say anybody was really the best (well, maybe Buddy Rich). Different strokes for different folks.
I dunno, close but I like Nick Mason. And not just 'cause he's in Floyd! It's good to see a drummer who's more subtle and not frilly. That's why I need to fire my drummer. But I can't because he was my first friend and I've known him since kindergarten. |

I wish someone else around here shared my love for Moon. I tried Who forums, but unfortunately they are soarly lacking. Plus this is the only forum I ever like. So anyway I can't really share my Moonie obsession with anybody. Boo. I'll get over it. |
