I find " Imagine " a bit patchy in places " it's So Hard " and " How? " and even the title track are not among my favourite Lennon songs . "Walls and Bridges " is a much better album in my opinion , # 9 Dream is a much more creative song than " Imagine "
I love # 9 Dream! That's one, when I first heard it, that I said, "WHOA! I likes me this song!"
That doesn't always happen.
All you've got to do is choose love. That's how I live it now. I learned a long time ago, I can feed the birds in my garden. I can't feed them all. -- Ringo Starr, Rolling Stone magazine, May 2007
For all I know, Ringo might be a yogi disguised as a drummer! - George Harrison
Of the music albums, I think "Sometime In New York City" is the worst, though I was never that crazy about "Mind Games" or "Walls And Bridges" either. But those at least have some decent songs, unlike "Some Time".
My fave part of "Sometime In New York City" was always the live album. "Cold Turkey" used to fascinate me and I played "Scumbag" a lot just to annoy my parents!

The live version of "Baby Please Don't Go" on that disc (played with Frank Zappa, I think) is better than the studio take on The Lennon Anthology. That, and "New York City" are the only keepers for me.
I've always thought STINYC was very strong musically. It's definately got some grunt. Unfortunately when I first heard it I'd already so much about it being rubbish due to the lyrics that I was almost convinced into dismissing it. In retrospect I now think that that criticism is a bit harsh. Lennon seriously misjudged his audience at the time, but I would rather listen to this now than the wishy washy Mind Games..
Yeah, I like the noisy, in-your-face approach, too. But you get lyrics like this:
If we could make chains with the morning dew The world would be like Galway Bay Let's walk over rainbows like leprechauns The world would be one big Blarney stone

I've never heard this album , i always understood it not to be that good , but your comments have kinda wet my appetite . I like the look of those fantabulous lyrics lol

We can probably blame Yoko and substance abuse for those lyrics. Try your local library or a used CD shop. Maybe even a yard sale.

Don't forget the imaginative over-use of "gotta" in "John Sinclair"! Something like fifteen "gottas" in 15 seconds, I think

I forgot about that one:
It ain't fair, John Sinclair In the stir for breathing air Won't you care for John Sinclair? In the stir for breathing air Let him be, set him free Let him be like you and me
They gave him ten for two What else can the judges do? Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta set him free
If he'd been a soldier man Shooting gooks in Vietnam If he was the CIA Selling dope and making hay He'd be free, they'd let him be Breathing air, like you and me
They gave him ten for two What else can the judges do? Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta set him free
They gave him ten for two They got Ali Otis too. Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta set him free
Was he jailed for what he done? Or representing everyone Free John now, if we can From the clutches of the man Let him be, lift the lid Bring him to his wife and kids
They gave him ten for two What else can the bastards do? Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta set him free
