Has anyone else heard about this? He bought Epsteins journals and wants to do a movie about his life.  Jude Law? He'll have to tone down those looks of his to do it! I wonder how into the Beatles they'll get.

I don't see why people see Brian Epstein to be a real interesting character and all....but it could make for an entertaining film I guess.

The only reason I saw it was because he was in it! Otherwise I couldn't stand watching it. He looked good up until they had him wear a beard. Didn't like his face being covered. Now that I think of it, I've seen some pretty bad movies because of him. AI comes to mind.

Nicole Kidman gets to be in movies with all the cutest guys. Lucky girl. I wonder if Jude played Epstein he'd have to look all frumpy and stuff. Not that that's even possible.

Maybe not! In Road to Perdition the gave him gross yellow rotting teeth a receding hairline and pastey skin and he STILL looked hot! The director said it was very hard trying to make him look ugly. But he tried!

Jude just bought Epsteins old diarys and wants to make the movie. I don't think he's even started. He has his own production company though with some other actors (Ewan McGregor another hottie) so I'm sure he'll get it done. At least I hope so!

Some info:
Brian Epstein Biopic: iC Liverpool talked with Jude Law briefly about his role as legendary Beatles manager Brian Epstein in an upcoming project. The actor recently purchased some of Epstein's journals from auction and will use them to help his performance: "They run from when he was 15 until he was 27, with sketches and odd little notes - very funny. He was quite a personality". Law is about to head to Italy for the other part of his preparation - "eating pasta and drinking Guinness" in order to put on weight to play the part. Law has been delaying the project for a while now until he "felt old enough" for the part, and isn't expected to appear at this year's Oscars. Both Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr are apparently pleased with the idea of the project.

And a different article:

As soon as he has the chance, Law plans to make a film of the life of the former Beatles manager Brian Epstein, which he has co-written and will produce and star in for Natural Nylon. He has spent five years researching it, and bought Epstein's diaries when they came up for auction last year. "They run from when he was 15 until he was 27, with sketches and odd little notes - very funny. He was quite a personality."

Portraying the homosexual Epstein will necessitate some changes to his slender build. "I've got to put on a bit of weight to play Brian so I'll go off to Italy for a couple months and eat pasta and drink Guinness," he says. He seems positively elated at the thought.

Jude Law will not be playing Brian Epstein, although he did express his wish some years ago that he'd like to portray Brian in a movie.
There is a film to be made about Brian, it's directed by a Continental director and the contact is info@fifthbeatlemovie.com. However, Jude Law won't be in it as I believe it is a low budget production. I contacted Jude Law's office a couple of years ago and talked to his secretary and also sent a letter asking for permission to have a look at Brian's diaries, but this was denied. It's sad when someone buys material which has such intrinsic value and the material is then unavailable for people to study.

Actually, I'm a part of THE FIFTH BEATLE team and this comment isn't accurate. For the record:
We are enjoying the interest of actors of Jude Law's calibre and stature, and we absolutely have the ability to compensate them accordingly should we choose to go that route. Whether or not Jude Law will be in our film has nothing to do with the budget.  We are still fine-tuning the budget and therefore I cannot state an exact dollar figure, but I can confirm with  accuracy that by no one's standards-- neither Hollywood insiders nor average moviegoers-- will "The Fifth Beatle" ever be considered a "low budget production".

Re Jude Law and ‘The Fifth Beatle’ movie: Vivek tells me it won’t be a low budget production, although he hasn’t confirmed the final dollar budget of the movie yet. Also, he hasn’t ruled out Jude Law. Anyone interested in discussing it can contact Vivek at info@fifthbeatlemovie.com or look on the website http://www.fifthbeatlemovie.com

I don't know if you've considered any money-saving options for the movie but I've come up with a few:

1) Have Brian talking on the phone while you hear the Beatles in a room next door making a racket playing music.  John bursts his head through the door and says, "Brian, we've just written a song called 'Love Me Do,' you wanna hear it?"  Brian says, "Not now, I'm on the phone."  John sulks and closes the door behind him.  The racket resumes.

2) We all know licensing Beatles music will take the budget through the roof, so I've got a fix for that too.  As Brian sinks into drug use and debauchery, he can no longer TELL the Beatles songs from their competitors such as the Kinks or the Stones (which can be had much more cheaply).  Also you could throw some dirt-cheap Gerry and the Pacemakers in there.

3) Use a blue screen with Ringo--like they did with Gollum.

I've got more ideas I'd like to share . . . .

Seriously good luck with your movie!

Thanks for your tips adamzero. Vivek Tiwary, the director of THE FIFTH BEATLE, is going to be keeping an eye on the forum created for the film. Anybody and everybody is welcome to join for free and throw in their two cents. Here is the link:

You're a good sport.  Good luck with the film.  I think the tragic arc of Brian going from the man who "made" the Beatles to an irrelevant (although well remunerated) part of the operation is truly sad.  Also, the whole gay show business underworld of the 60s (that John Lennon talked about) was important, if glossed over, part of the Beatles success.

Finally, you have that fateful moment when Brian first walks down those Cavern stairs.  Slo-mo, into an underground, dank, smelly prole place, not really his type of people or music, and he sees John Lennon . . . .

We keep coming back to that same scene--walking down stairs . . . .
