It was originally the B side of I Want To Hold Your Hand and was not on a UK album. In America it was on Meet The Beatles.
It can now be found on Past Masters Vol. 1. |

It's also on Anthology I and the Anthology Video........from a Morecomb and Wise t.v. show or something or other....kind of annoying to have the talky bits on both releases.....same for some more of the performances that were both on Anthology I and the video series....the overlap is annoying and it makes you want to skip over the stuff when watching or listening to either... |

I like the Live Version of This Boy, where they end on the note, instead of fading. |

Sorry, have to disagree totaly with that one.
Lennons Powerful Middle Eight.. Mccartneys Amazing vocal...the plodding bass line.... ... The Unit of 3 at the Microphone...
The excerts for Harrison and Mccartney mixing up 'this boys' 'that boys' ...giving us a Improv from Mccartney which shows the true calibre of his voice.
Oh, and John with his new Rickenbacker....bloody lovely guitar. |

No way! For all of the reasons that Indica stated - especially John's middle 8... Oh a-a-and this boy... |

Why did the US Market do their Albums and Singles all differently? |

Well for one thing The beatles and George MArtin believed that fans shouldn't have to pay for a song "twice", the UK EMI Parlophone releases did not generally include the singles and the US Capitol releases did.
(Cynically, you could say they were hoping to make more sales too that way)
There are other reasons which I am not sure of but know someone will be able to help with.
Apparently the Beatles fought to have the albums issued the same but this din;t happen until Revolver.
i know this was the same with the Rolling Stones as well, their US releases contained singles wheras the UK ones didn;t. |

Well... If they couldn't have the actual song This Boy on the album, even though it was on the movie, they should have put it on the B-Side of A Hard Day's Night. |

The problem with that is This Boy had already appeared as a B-side a few months earlier (I Want To Hold Your Hand) and most Beatle fans would probably already have a copy of that. |
