I'm pretty sure there was one not too long after his death......and I think Yoko was behind it too......I know there's been one that is on DVD or something from what I hear...

There was a concert in Liverpool for John's 50th birthday... and I was there!!! It was held at Albert Dock and was absolutely huge! Unfortunately neither Paul nor Ringo attended personally - but they did send personal messages via a large screen!
Yoko and Sean appeared though - they came on stage at the end to tremendous cheers. Yoko was going to make a speach but she broke down in tears as the whole crowd began chanting Give Peace A Chance - it was extremely moving. In the end she had to leave the stage accompanied by Sean.
There was a video of it released a good few years back - I'll post details if anyone wants to track down a copy.
I do remember some kind of tribute a couple of years ago. There were all sorts of stars singing John's songs. That may have been the one that Joe is referring to with Kevin Spacey. I did not watch it though because I hate people singing Beatles/solo covers.
I did put it on for a second and saw some country girl singing "God". That was enough for me. I had to throw up after that.

all i know is paul did a song for him called i think "The night we cried"
"Here Today" Is actually the title, it's a good song, I like it. He does it for most of his concerts now days I think, along with "Something" for George and it's played with a ukalali.
