Strawberry fields forever for me too - though it was a hard decision. At first, I couldn't stand I am the walrus, but it's one of those songs I've really grown into. Still, Strawberry... I liked from the start
You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don't need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it's the very best, and it's the part I give most willingly.
I also loved how FREAKING COOL I Am The Walrus sounded, so it got my vote. I really thought Strawberry Fields was going to destroy Walrus in this poll, but it doesn't seem that way.
I love these songs equally, they're exactly as great. But come on, folks - choose one! It's not like you're going to be put in front of a firing squad or the master tapes are going to burn up if you try!
But actually, that's the only way I could choose! The only way I was able to force myself to pick was to ask, "IF I could only have one song, and the other had to disappear from all recorded memory, which would it be?"
And, by the half of a pubic hair, I pick STRAWBERRY FIELDS.
I remember the first time listening to I Am The Walrus. Back then, I didn't know a thing about The Beatles going studio and ending their touring, so when I heard the song, I went, "What the hell is going on?! I Am He as You Are Me? WTF?" Never heard anything like that in my life
Difficult, but I'll probably go for "I Am The Walrus". JOHN liked it more himself than "Strawberry". It's not beacuse he preferred it, it's because it has more things on it. I don't know, really, (how bad!)
What can you say about 2 songs that compliment "John's " signing ability and lyrical wit! Personally I think I Am The Walrus has a little more grit to it so that gets my vote! It seems Strawberry Fields is more of a gentle ballad with great vocals and guitar riffs! John's voice is right up front with I Am The Walrus and the music is more out there!
Starwberry Fields Forever hands down, totaly amazing psychedelic song... I love psychedelicness <3
Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans //o-o\\//- -\\ love is real, real is love When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.
In 'Walrus, I love that part after the second Goo Goo G'joob, when listening with earphones, and the left speaker goes totally dead. It feels so weird...
