I was wondering why did John Lennon write this song about Paul McCartney. How did there fued start? And did Paul ever come out with a comeback song? I think that its sad that these two had a fued with each other.
Paul did Let Me Roll it which supposedly was about John and another one I can't think of. But I know tons around here will remember! Oh, and later on in John's life he said the song How Do You Sleep was really about himself (backpeddling?) but regreted the association. Of course then he goes on to say something like: What's to regret. He lived through it! Heh! You gotta love the guy!
John was offended by RAM, with its shot of a Beatle screwing another Beatle on its cover, and some lines from the songs, like "Too Many people preaching practices," and John quoted stuff like "we believe that we can't be wrong". He also felt "Dear Boy' was a swipe at him.
Granted, much of John's perceptions may have been paranoia, but he also described that people don't know Paul like he knows him. He said "Paul likes to appear almost straight but maybe just have his ear painted blue or something". So, he's saying that Paul is apt to be more discreet about insults, where Lennon had the balls to come right out and be blatant about it
Yeah, HDYS is a great song. I'm sure that both John/Paul got over the resentment ignited by the songs pretty soon after that. Didn't John say something that him and Paul were "alright" after everyone was bitching about him writing HDYS. I love that song. I'm glad he wrote it, not because it slams Paul in any way, but because I love it.
I haven't seen the movie in years and all I remember about the conversation is that they weren't being AS nasty as they were feeling at the time. So I thought MAYBE it could be Ringo. I haven't studied every nuance and word in that conversation. But thanks for the clarification.
