Its a great song.
I especially like the ending, with John and Paul Improvising typical Beatle Humour.

i have it stuck in my head now...

Paul:     Catchy tune, that.

Ringo:    I can’t seem to get it out of my head.

George:  Well shake it!

Ringo:    That’s what we’ve been doing all night!

George:  Oh?

I can stay till it's time to go

Hey Bulldog is a totally unique song although it has a sound similar to Lady Madonna and was recorded around that time.  A rare gem!

Paul: Hey man

John: What's that, boy?

Paul: Ruff!

John: Whaddya say?

Paul: I say, ruff!

John: Do you know any more?

Paul: Wowowowoaaaaa!

John: (Screams loudly)

Paul: You got it, that's it, you hit it, that's it man, woop!, that's it you got it

John: (Screams hysterically)

Paul: Don't look at me man, I already have ten children

Paul: Either Clap man, clap or Quite, boy quiet

This is one of my favorite Beatles Songs, and the last few times Ive heard ive tried to make out what John and Paul are saying in the end, but to no avail.  Is there anyone who can actually understand what they're saying, and if you can, can you post it here?

I love "Hey Bulldog" Paul and his current band would rock this one live that's for sure.

"Wings IV introduced Jimmy McCulloch, a spunky lead guitarist with grit, able to spur Paul on unlike any previous soloist. His debut track, the magnificent single `Junior's Farm', stands as one of Wings' finest emotional and technical releases."

"Few people on this planet know as much about Jimmy's musical history than you."

"Jimmy was a cool guitar player. Henry (McCullough) had been too, but Jimmy seemed a bit special." - Paul McCartney

John: Hey, man. What's that noise?

Paul: Ruff!

John: What do ya say?

Paul: I say, ruff!

John: Do you know any more?

Paul: Rowooooorrrrrowf! Ahhh-hahahahahaa!!

John: You've got it! That's great! You hit it! That's it, man! Woop! That's it! You got it! Ha ha ha!

Paul: Woo!

John: Don't look at me, man. I only have grandchildren.

Paul: Ha ha hoo ha ha hoo etc.

John: Okay. Quiet, boy! Quiet!

Paul: Okay.

John: Heyyyy...

Both: ...bulldog!

Paul's barking like a dog, and John's quieting him down (as you would a pet), tossing a Lennonish joke in the middle. That's about all the "meaning" there. The real meaning is that even in 1968, they could still goof around hysterically with each other and be cheeky enough to keep their improvisations in the finished version.

Here's my book. It's funny! I promise.

Last song recorded before leaving for India ... the end of the beginning, just before the beginning of the end.

(Not "The End" of forum fame, or "The End" of Abbey Road fame, but rather the end of the ... oh, never mind!)

I love John,
I love Paul,
And George and Ringo,
I love them all!

No problem. The reason it's so hard to make out exactly who's saying what is, of course, the heavy distortion on the vocals. It sure works for the song, though!

On a completely incidental note, the worst cover version of any Beatles song I've ever heard was done by a high school brass band. They covered "Hey, Bulldog," except changed the chorus line "You can talk to me" to "Albuquerque" (where I live). Yeah, it was as bad as you're imagining. Worse, actually.

I think in the beginning it's john by himself and after the scream that John does Paul jumps in. but Paul doesn't bark John does
