This is one of my favorite Beatles Songs, and the last few times Ive heard ive tried to make out what John and Paul are saying in the end, but to no avail. Is there anyone who can actually understand what they're saying, and if you can, can you post it here?
I love "Hey Bulldog" Paul and his current band would rock this one live that's for sure.

Paul's barking like a dog, and John's quieting him down (as you would a pet), tossing a Lennonish joke in the middle. That's about all the "meaning" there. The real meaning is that even in 1968, they could still goof around hysterically with each other and be cheeky enough to keep their improvisations in the finished version.
No problem. The reason it's so hard to make out exactly who's saying what is, of course, the heavy distortion on the vocals. It sure works for the song, though!
On a completely incidental note, the worst cover version of any Beatles song I've ever heard was done by a high school brass band. They covered "Hey, Bulldog," except changed the chorus line "You can talk to me" to "Albuquerque" (where I live). Yeah, it was as bad as you're imagining. Worse, actually.

I think in the beginning it's john by himself and after the scream that John does Paul jumps in. but Paul doesn't bark John does
