For me the slump was season 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 was sort of an upswing. This season was not as good as last season but still better than than the previous 4. Nowhere near seasons 2-9 though.
I dunno. Somewhere around 7, 8 they went potty til about 12, then regained speed again. I'm surprised they can still be funny and topical, but there are definitely fewer episodes each year that can sustain solid wall to wall laughs.
To me season 7 and 8 were still brilliant. 9 was pretty good, 10 was just alright, but 11, 12, and 13 were almost all pure crap. In fact I don't think there's a single episode in season 12 that I like at all.

I am just going on my vague dissatisfaction some time ago. I would have to read an actual episode list for each season to accurately portray which mid seasons were flat. But basically we tend to be thinking of the same basic time.
That stands for the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant in case you wondered. But they have just about everything there you could ever want to know. Go on over and take a look at the seasons list and see what you think.

How do so many conversations end up about The Simpsons?
Anyways, I totally agree about Seasons 10, 11, 12, and 13. Quality has improved in the last two seasons but it still is no where near as good as it was back in the good old days(90-99). Season 16 looks promising as long as they cut down on the pointless guest stars and outlandish plots. I heard some one was going to come out of the closet this season. My bets are placed on Smithers and Patty.
You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

Nah, that would be way too obvious...besides, Waylon has been known to be gay for years, and he and Patty came out together in the gay pride parade...albeit somewhat 'anonymously'.
It'll have to be someone not really expected and who's sex life has not really been the source of episodes in the past (Barney is a-sexual, Moe has had a girlfriend or two, Skinner is getting married, Chalmers has dated Seymour's mother, Lenny used to be married in the old episodes (maybe even Carl as well). Willy? Too off-center. Frankly, I don't have a clue...can't be Maggie again (as in who shot Burns?).

Thanks. This will take major work as I will have to go thru each of the disputed seasons and register whether I liked the show or not. I'll have to get back to you.

Ay, didn't Barney have a hot love affair with Linda Rondstadt? And don't forget his Japanese avant garde artist girlfriend in the B-Sharps flashbacks. He's not asexual, he just has very high standards! My vote is on Krusty. You know how those show biz types are! P.S. I wish they'd bring back Sideshow Bob. I LOVE that character. Was he even on this season? I can't remember.

Naw, Krusty is a total player. he has a kid, remember. And as for Sideshow Bob, he got the death sentence in a newer episode (I forget which one).

Sideshow Bob was in a very sub-par episode last season called "The Great Louse Detective". And Barney didn't have a love afair with Linda Ronstadt, they just sang together. Maybe it's Milhouse. They've been trying to make him gay for awhile. Lenny too.
