I wasn't sure if this belonged in the film section or whatever, but anyways:

"Stars belive that if they become famous in one area, they can get the all-access celebrity pass. Sometimes you're lucky just to get the gig you have. But people start believing-with the power of 'yes people' aroud them-that they have this all-around, multifaceted talent that they can apply to anything. I already know I can't act. I don't have to do some terrible submarine movie to figure that out. Hey celebrities: Stay put! Enjoy! Is it so bad to make millions of dollars just from singing?"

While I happen to agree with what he's said, why did he have to go after the Beatles? All of their films (with the exception of MMT) were big successes. Just exactly who does that arrogant little c*nt think he is anyways? (Sorry if we have any John Mayer fans here)

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

My daughter is a huge Mayer fan.  But she's a huge Beatles fan as well.  I imagine she'll rip right down the middle.

I wouldnt lose any sleep over that. Mayer probably got bumped out of line at a restaraunt or something by Paul or Ringo. He could have at least had the balls to bring up an actual movie that they acted in. It was a cartoon for Gods sake.

I dont really like Mayer at all, but it did occur to me he could have been talking about the World War II submarine movie that starred Jon BonJovi in it. It was pretty lame and i dont think Bonjovi is much of a actor. I thought this film was so bad I cant even remember the name of it. I dont think he was talking about "Yellow Submarine". Since "Yellow Submarine" was a cartoon and did not have the real Beatles in it till the very end for a cameo apperance, it would be hard to say that they acted in it

My daughter says theat Mayer is pretty bright but he doesn't express himself well; i.e., he's blunt.  And that he has said in the past that he never got into the beatles.

So it simply appears they're not his cup of tea.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that."

He is talking about the Bon Jovi movie, not Yellow Submarine. He loves the Beatles. Too bad his music doesn't show it.

It would be one thing if he said it about Magical Mystery Tour but he seems a bit foolish to use Yellow Submarine as an example.  Besides, they really weren't all that involved in its creation anyways, as many of you know of course.

I understand his overall point though.

John Mayer is a wannabe Bob Dylan.

But does'nt even come close.

I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we pass the audition.

What the hell? Just because someone slightly mentions a movie that could be any damned movie in the world, you all get bent out of shape? You really think something that anybody says can tarnish the legacy of the Beatles' music? honestly... I thought better of you all...

I expected something like, "The Beatles were nothing but washed-up musicians who were able to do whatever the hell they wanted just because of their status..." Besides that, who cares if John Mayer or Paul McCartney or John Lennon said that same quote? We don't know what context it's in, and who cares, period?

I don't understand why fans get so bent out of shape when someone even implies that he's thinking about a band or musician in even the slightest wrong manner... It's not like you guys are their mothers... Let it be... He's gonna sink to the bottom soon anyway, whether he was talking about the Beatles or not...
