Again, with a film like the Exorcist, the Hype can either create a better (or in my case) terrible experience.
Having been born in the mid Eighties, I grew up with films which started to embrace visual effects etc (this is in no way my favourite type of film) ..and so I cant fully* grasp onto the time-line context of such a film...and ultimately the effectiveness.
I thought the film in itself had a great gimmick, but the actual horror* of it all was rather comical. I cant believe People walked out of Cinema's..but again..Americans always seem to interact with the screen alot more than English people. ( when seeing video footage..American audiences scream out etc...you would be lucky if you got a murmur in England)

Over Rated in my opinion.

Its the theme that makes the film, not the visual quality.

I saw it when I was a kid and it scared the hell out of me!!! I still cannot watch it if I'm home alone. No way.  The voices and music just creep me out. A friend of mine laughs at me because I still think it's terrifying!! She thinks it's because I was brought up Catholic. I'm not so sure that's it! I think it's a great movie. Very good acting and it's not so out there that it feels unreal.

The Ring probably scared me the most out of all the movies.  I was actually trembling so bad in the theater I had to get up and go outside for about five minutes to calm down lol.  But the Exorist really didn't scare me that much.

I think last year or the year before we were discussing child stars and my teacher told us how the little girl that was in the movie was actually really tramatized for awhile by having to play that role.  Poor thing. =(

I haven't seen The Exorcist. I want to see the new one that's out.

I was freaked out after seeing The Ring too. I would be lying in bed and I'd keep looking over at the TV scared it was going to turn on.

One of the scariest movies I've seen was a British movie called "The Woman In Black." I slept with my pillow over my head after watching it.

I know The Exorcist is an old movie but it still scares the mess out of me! It's the scariest movie of all time, hands down.

Did anybody went to see the new Exorcist movie? The reviews were bad and judging by the trailers the movie doesnt look good so I'll wait for the dvd to come out

I went and saw it.  It was a decent movie until the end.  The bad CG's kind of ruined it.  Definitely wait until it comes out on DVD to see it.

The Shining is one of the best movies ever. Jack Nicholson is so awesome. The kid with the talking finger kind of annoyed me though. REDRUM REDRUM! Oh, shut up!

I'm strange, but I actually thought that the made for TV version of the Shining was better than the movie.

I liked The Simpsons' spoof of the movie.

Homer: "No TV and no beer make Homer something something."
Marge: "Go crazy?"
Homer: "Don't mind if I do!!"

Really? I couldn't stand it. But Stephen King was very involved in it. Apparently he didn't like the original either. I love it. It's such a classic. I couldn't get into the new one.  I guess I just couldn't see the guy from Wings as that much of a threat!

Ha! Very funny. I like that they have to call it the Shinning because of copyright infringement or something. Treehouse of Horror are always cool episodes.

Wasn't Ralph Wiggum the one who said "Redrum! Redrum!" in that episode?

I think it was Todd Flanders who said "Red room, red room."  And it wasn't on that episode, it was on "Realty Bites".
