Dude, I was just saying how much I used to like them. I didn't say they sucked. And I just personally think the lyrics to Stairway are a little weak. I STILL listen to Zeppelin, just not as much. I think people in general are more obsessive about bands when they're teenagers. I used to listen to all those bands you said and more and STILL do. I just don't have shrines of them in my room anymore. That was my point. I'm really not anti-Zeppelin. I think they're one of the greats for sure. I just can't listent to Stairway to Heaven anymore. Actually, The Song Remains the Same was on the other day and I DID listen to it. And I wasn't annoyed. So maybe enough time went by for me to appreaciate it again. I love so many other Zeppelin songs better though. Anytime I post lately it's like people think I'm a jerk or something. I'm really just posting my opinions. I'm not saying you suck cuz you like so and so. I just put forth reasons why I may think another band is better. If I'm doing it in a rude way sorry.

the suck/lyric thing wasn't directed to you...it was in general...and no i dont think you are jerk in any way...i didn't write that to say something agaisnt you...i think what you wrote was good...i said they are all gods and we chose to love the band we like more...ITS ALL ABOUT PREFERENCE...you like floyd...cool...you like a little zepp..cool...you love the beatles..thats great...same for me...we all have different taste and i respect that...i wont say you suck cause you like different things...this forum is made do debate ...anyways..if you thought i said bad things about im really sorry cause that wasnt my intention..i respect your opinions...and like i said, and ill say it again it's about preference...
cheers

Well, I'm just paranoid lately I guess. Yup, it's all preference. But when you debate that gets put to the side I think. Except of course if I say I think the lyrics are kinda simple, then that's opinion. I compare it to JOhn songs I guess and then that's why I think it's not so deep. Lately the words to Across the Universe have been in my mind. I think those are some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written. The expressions he comes up with amaze me. I know we all know the words, but I feel like posting it!!!

Words are flowing out like
endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
are drifting through my open mind
Possessing and caressing me

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Images of broken light which
dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a
restless wind inside a letter box
they tumble blindly as
they make their way across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of life
are ringing through my open ears
inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which
shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Jai guru deva

these days im really into barrett's lyrics...i think they're great...he's one of my favorite songwriters...

Opel:

On a distant shore, miles from land
stands the ebony totem in ebony sand
a dream in a mist of gray...
on a far distant shore...

The pebble that stood alone
and driftwood lies half buried
warm shallow waters sweep shells
so the cockles shine...

A bare winding carcass, stark
shimmers as flies scoop up meat, an empty way...
dry tears...
crisp flax squeaks tall reeds
make a circle of gray in a summer way, around man
stood on ground...

I'm trying
I'm trying to find you!
To find you
I'm living, I'm giving,
To find you, To find you,
I'm living, I'm living,
I'm trying, I'm giving

Barrett was such an incredible genius. I wonder had he gotten on some kind of medication if he would have been able to continue. But I'm glad he got to do what he did. It's interesting when Roger talks about the lyrics to Bike and how it taught him not to be afraid to explore the simple things when writing lyrics.

nah i think he was done for good..nothing could help him...in the PF and SB story, theytalk about when syd went to abbey road while they were doind wish you were here and they couldn't even recognize him...he was fat and completely bald...Waters almost cried when he found out it was him...he was in his world..he was done mentally...he is still one of the great, and you are right sandra he is a genius...

Sandra heres some good lyrics

Yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on

Your head is humming and it won't go because you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady can't you hear the wind blow and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll

And she's buying a stairway to heaven

Give me love, give me peace on Earth...

Right. Rick and Roger both cried. How sad. But nowadays they have meds for schitzophrenics. (sp?) Depending on how severe their condition is, a lot of them can live pretty normal lives. But then maybe it was the mental illness that made him a genius and the meds would have just made him 'comfortably numb.'

Bad joke. Sorry!

Yes, I know. I can't get past the whole mystical thing. They're very good though. Better than anything nowadays. BTW, I heard it's about the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Any truth in that? I also read that Jimmy Page said that if he could change one thing, he wouldn't have written this song. He says he hates it. Dunno if either is true. Just read them somewhere. I'm trying to look it up.

Yeah, I don't know. There's so much junk on the internet you can't believe anything. Unless it's an actual interview. Which I can't find. I think I don't have a problem with Zeppelin as much as I do that song. There are so many Zeppelin songs I LOVE. Here's a few. And I MEAN love.

What Is And What Should Never Be
Thank You
Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman)
Ramble On
Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You
Communication Breakdown
Gallows Pole
Black Dog
Rock and Roll
When The Levee Breaks (awesome beat)

And my all time favorites:
Fool in the Rain
All of My Love
Hey Hey What Can I Do
Over The Hills And Far Away
D'yer Mak'er (LOVE this one)
