maybe i'd put strawberry fields an penny lane on pepper but thats an obvious one. take of sixty four an kite. it sounds awful saying it though.
I don't agree. Yes, Sgt. Pepper would've been so much better if Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane would've been on it, but since I have some very pleasant memories of When I'm Sixty-Four and because I think Mr. Kite is essential for the carnival-athmosphere of the album I really think those two should be on there.
There`s no need to take any original album song off one of the albums. There`s enough space on the CDs!
One could add "I Feel Fine" and "She`s A Woman" to "Beatles For Sale".
I think "We Can Work It Out" and "Day Tripper" would fit fine on "Rubber Soul", and of course SFF and PL should finally get their place on Sgt. Pepper (like it was originally intended).
They should have put "This Boy" on A Hard Day's Night... C'mon, it was Ringo's theme, people! Oh yeah, and that guy was right about We Can Work It Out and Day Tripper being on Rubber Soul. It all fits in perfectly. The 45' was released the same time as the LP. There's only about four decent songs on Rubber Soul as it is, anyway.

They're crap.
I was contemplating whether I should reply to this based on my "garbage" remarks toward Plastic Ono Band and how hypocritical it may seem, but I'm going to reply anyway.
I used to think the Plastic Ono Band was a "garbage" album. I thought the songs weren't that great to listen to and that is was one of Lennon's lesser albums. While I still agree that it's not my favorite Lennon album, I came to realize why people liked it so much -- they appreciate it for what it is. He just came out of the Beatles and all of a sudden he "[doesn't] believe in the Beatles." The songs were such a departure to what we normally heard from John that they were appreciated in that respect. The point? Many people can appreciate an album for what it is, and downgrading what is really a fine album by saying that all but four songs are "crap".... CRAP outta all things, is below us.
Furthermore, there's nothing that really justifies everything but Drive My Car, Norweigan Wood, Nowhere Man, and Michelle as crap. What is crappy about In My Life, If I Needed Someone, You Won't See Me, I'm Looking Through You, Run For Your Life, and Think For Yourself? None of them are played horribly -- they're all played extremely well. The lyrics are a big step up from many of their previous albums, with deeper or more introspective lyrics. Surely there has to be something hideously wrong about the songs to say that they're crap, and there's nothing that bad, so let's refrain from downgrading songs like that.
Overall it's a very great album that was a huge turn-around from previous albums and, without a doubt, is one of the Beatles finest works.... along with just about every album that came after it.
Well, I beg your pardon. The very nature of these forums is that we're all about opinions. I was merely expressing my opinion of my favourite songs on the album, and I know that many people disagree, and that's why I'm not promoting it as an established fact. You shouldn't bag people out because of their opinions, otherwise you have no right to share yours. If it's any consolation, I'm Looking Through You was one I overlooked.

Using that logic, you just got my opinion on what I thought of you calling the songs "crap", so what's the problem?
Would you also like to clarify what you mean by "bagging other opinions"? Were you even referring to me by that comment at all, because I don't see where I even possibly hinted at that.
Regardless, you still have yet to justify why the others are "crap." That's a very harsh word to use. It doesn't matter whether it's an opinion or not -- for a song to be crap, it has to be played very bad, have an extremely bad sound, not be very pleasing, not the least bit catchy, etc., which is why I'm questioning your use of that word.

I thinks it's pretty well documented that Rubber Soul was one of The Beatles' greatest accomplishments, and is still regarded as one of the best albums of all time. If someone doesn't like it, that's fair enough, but to simply disregard it and call it "crap" seems quite unbelievable! In fact, I don't think I've ever heard a bad comment about Rubber Soul... till now that is!
I am a huge Beatle fan, but Abbey Road is my least favourite of their albums - that's MY opinion of another classic, but I would never call it crap simply because it's not in my CD player all the time.

I used to not like it very much and held Help! in much higher regard, until I gave it another listen or two. Rubber Soul in an incredible album and definitely ranks up there.
Well, I'm sorry if I seemed to abase your "perfect little album". By the way, when I said "'m Looking Through You was another good one, I actually meant You Won't See Me - but when I listened to I'm Looking Through You again, I still reckoned that was OK. The Word is alright too - I actually just finished listening to Rubber Soul just then... OK, maybe I overreacted about Rubber Soul, but still, you gotta admit, it can't hold a candle to Sgt. Pepper. Or Magical Mystery Tour for that matter.

OK, I know I was being sarcastic when I said that, but now that I've given it more thought, and given Rubber Soul a bit more listens through, I'd have to say this it is a perfect album - and I'd have to say that, in my opinion, the only other perfect albums are Please Please Me and Sgt. Pepper.

Rubber Soul is what convinced me that the Beatles were above and beyond everything else. I'd heard Pepper and Abbey ROad, but as soon as I ran through Rubber Soul i was completely hooked.

Anyway, why don't you make your own Sgt Peppers cd with Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane in it?
Yeah, I've done that. And I put Only a Northern Song in between She's Leaving Home and the Benefit, 'cause that had a place earlier on in the album, too.

They're crap.
Oh, and by the way, I'd like to apologise to the following people:
Crazy Diamond Frightwolf The End
who apparently were offended by my reference of "In My Life", "If I Needed Someone" and "Girl" inter alia as "crap". In truth, I really had no idea what I was saying. I hadn't had much insight into Rubber Soul, having listened to the album in it's entirety only twice. I now, understandably, regret having said all the nasty things I've said in the past about Rubber Soul, and, as I've said before, I enforce the fact that every single song on the album is a masterpiece. After all, Rubber Soul is "the all-important stepping stone towards the new type of music explored on and after Revolver". We're all loving Beatles fans here, so let's not put down our band's albums. Except, of course, Yellow Submarine. It's only got 6 decent songs on it. What they should have done was create an EP like they did with Magical Mystery Tour, using the items from Side One. Or, even better, made an LP of all the new and old songs that appeared on the Yellow Submarine film. But then again, I guess what has been done has been done, and we all love the Beatles for who they are/were.
I know this is all hypothetical, but y'know, I wouldn't want to add or subtract a song from any Beatles album. They're classics as they are, and other than the Yellow Submarine soundtrack are perfect examples of how to conceive, construct and perform songs; songs that are at first glance simple, but have enough twists and turns in them to make playing them faithfully a challenge.
It's the little, hardly noticeable things that they did that made the songs and the albums great. I prefer to keep them as they are and besides, if you have Past Masters 1 & 2 albums you've got the singles that were left off the albums. Those two make for great listening on their own.
Here's another clue for you all; the Walrus was Paul...
