My Son Sean - DM's Beatles forums

Hello Everyone!
My name is John andI just wanted to share with you my Lennon experience.
First of all I am a full time working musician. I decided to become a musician the first time I saw the Beatles on the Ed sullivan show. I 've played in many bands,
My current Band I have had now for the past 14 years. I also work solo.
Back in 1980 when John was shot and killed, my heart just dropped. I was devistated. I remember crying that night by myself, over this great loss.
Ever since that year, I always make sure to reflect on John Lennons music on October 9th his and seans birthday, and on December 8th the anniversery of his death. I married in 1983, had a beautiful little girl (stephanie) in 1984. In 1987 my wife at the time was pregnet with our second child, and we were trying to come up with names for a boy and a girl, since we didn't know what we were going to have. We had no problem with girls names, but when it came to a boys name, I told her if it was a boy I would like to call him Sean, after John Lennons son. She didn't like the idea, she prefered that I name him after me. But I didn't want to do that. Later on that night we were looking through a baby name book and found Sean. When she saw the meaning of Sean was Irish galic for John, she said ok.� Well this was in July of 1987. Four months later my wife go's into labor at 2:30 am. She woke me up told me and I just jumped up and rushed her to the hospital. At 8:35 am my son Sean was born.
The date was October 9, 1987.� I did not realize that it was Oct. 9th untill I left the hospital, stopped for somthing to eat, and heard th DJ on the radio say"In tribute to John Lennons birthday we are going to play an hour of his music..........
Thats when I realized what day it was. I screamed so loud!!!! I could not believe it!�
Well my son is now 17, and he also is a musician. For his birthday I took him up to New york to see Strawberry fields, and The Dakota. And the spot where John was shot.� He became a little sad as he took in the experience. He has known about John Lennon since he was a baby. That was October 7th that we went to new york. On October 9th I invited my son to do his first stage debut with me at a place I was playing. I told him that for so many years on October 9th and I was on stage I would dedicate Johns song IMAGINE to John Lennon and my son Sean, but my son was never able to be there. This year For the first time he was
and after I explained to the people some of this story, he and I proceeded to play and sing Imagine together! It brought tears to my eyes to share that with him, and it brought tears to many eyes in the audience. I will alway cherish that experience and I just wanted to share it with you.
