1) They are both very beautiful pieces. 2) They are two of the best the Beatles ever recorded 3) They are two very highly liked and respected songs on this board
Wow, I can't even believe there's a competition. Let it Be is a masterpeice!!! Well, I'm a little biased I guess. It's been my favorite song since the first grade! But I do love Here Comes the Sun too. Just no where near as much. Now if you would have put it up against A Day in the Life I might have had a harder time!

Let It Be is part of the reason that I got into the Beatles
Here, though, Here Comes The Sun is considered George's best song, so I thought it was a fair match-up since Let It Be is, IMO, Paul's best.
And the A Day In The Life vs. Let It Be idea is nice. I'll do that later

I think George's best song is While My Guitar Gently Weeps. I just heard in teh car on the way home today. It's awesome. But still, Let it Be for me is THE song.
Let It Be almost has a "hyme" like quality about it and could have been pinched by "Paul" for one of his solo offerings! The same could be said about George's song! Could have been on his solo lps also! Let It Be is "classic Paul" and therefore I vote for Let It Be!
The way that Here Comes The Sun builds up from a delightfully happy sounding finger picking intro and then becomes anthemic sounds like a new day rising and then setting. It's perfectly done. I love Let It Be, but choosing between the two, its gotta be Here Comes The Sun.
You go Georgie!
Here's another clue for you all; the Walrus was Paul...
