What's your opinion of them? Any incarnation will do.

A good band, in all it's incarnations, starting with the earliest.  I got into them when Bare Trees came out, tho I'd heard a few earlier songs like Albatross and Oh Well.

They have mutated repeatedly, the only constant being Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.

The 70's pop version was quite good, tho sometimes derided as fluff.  Lindsay Buckingham was an excellent producer, guitar player and song writer.  The layers upon layers of sounds in songs he produced (Rumors for instance)...the shine, the brilliance of the many levels of guitar...the sound he got on Mick's drums...really good stuff.

Then after Christie left they still made good music in the 80's, even rockabilly.

It's quite an accomplishment to have weathered 5 decades of music as Mick and John have.

In my opinion they have a couple of really GREAT albums (Fleetwoot Mac and Rumours). I love Rumours! It's a masterpiece if take a look at melodies. Other albums not so good though they have some good and interesting songs.

I love the Peter Green era stuff, they recorded some of the coolest Brit blues along with the Blues Breakers and one or two other groups from England at that time. As for pop/ top40 you cant beat the Buckingham/Nicks era. Even the album cuts like The Chain and Gold Dust Women were grat songs.

Yeah, I love the Peter Green era of FM! Amazing. Extremely influential as well, even with the Beatles.

I also equally love the era with Buckingham/Nicks. I think Lindsey Buckingham is a brilliant guitarist. I emphasize brilliant in every way. I like the "Rumours" album and "Tusk" for all their stuff. I have their new album...I just don't like any of Stevie Nicks songs on it, maybe 1. Meanwhile, everything by Lindsey Buckingham on it is top class.

What is Peter Green doing nowadays?

Does anyone have any particular favorite Fleetwood Mac songs/albums?

I'm asking too many questions and not everyone seems that interested, I know...

I think my favorite Fleetwood Mac tune would be 'Hypnotized'. Love that tune. I agree that all the different lineups were good and had something to offer.

Peter Green is still recording with his "Splinter group" as is Jeremy Spencer on his own though. There has been talk of a reunion if Danny Kirwan could ever get his problems sorted out. These guys are as hard to get back together as the Beatles were, just for different reasons.  As for favorite albums I'm partial to the Chicago Chess studios recordings, and "Then play on"

Its really curious about Fleetwood Mac...so were the members from the Buckingham-Nicks era all married and they got divorces in the middle of recording the album "Rumours"? Something like that. I remember a friend of mine said they were all married and then they started cheating  on each other and got divorces and then they still had to work together. F*cking weird! No way would I work with my ex-husband if he was cheating on me. Don't even let me near him.

Or maybe I got the whole story wrong. Its kind of twisted. Anyone actually know or will it be another one of those significant-facts-about-a-famous-pop/rock-band-that-I'll-never-know-about-but-everyone-and-their-mother-already-knew/knows? There are a HELL of a lot of those for me.

Ok let me see if I can remember how this went, Lindsey and Stevie were together, not married, fought like hell split up during the Rumors lp recording. Stevie developed drug problems, had affair w/ Mick Fleetwood. Stevie kicked drugs, had a great solo career, got fat, had a facelift. I still think she's gorgeous though. Reformed w/ F.M.
Mick was married to Jenny Boyd (Patti's sister-Georges wife Patti) Jenny had affairs so did Mick, they divorced, Mick developed drug problems and had affair with Stevie during the "Tusk"album. Mick kicked drugs and is remarried, cant remember to who, reformed F.M.without Christeen Mcvie though.
John Mcvie was married to Christeen, but had affairs, but was more of a drunk than a lover, Mcvies split up much later though like in late 80s or early 90s, John sobered up, both remarried dont know to who, John and Christeen swap recipes now instead of heated words, John is in the reformed F.M.,  Christeen  cut  a solo album recently and has'nt done much other than that.
Thats the quick and dirty of it. Was I any help?

That was majorly helpful. Thanks. So, do any of these people have any children or did they squander the fertile period of their lives on drugs, boos, affairs, splits, and remarriages? I'm curious all of a sudden.

I have their new album and I also think Stevie Nicks looks great for her age, and Lindsey Buckingham even more so- according to the cover. But the other two old guys kind of look...like really old guys. Hey, at least they lived it up in their time, right?

Yeah Stevie looks great I'd run off with her at any time. I never got over that teenage crush I had on her when her album "Bella Donna" came out, and had the song "edge of seventeen"..... lol anyway I digress.  You are right about Mick and John looking old, its funny when English musicians get older the look like college profs. . By the way Mick fleetwood wrote a autobiography a while back. Its out of print now, but you can still pick it up on the net. I'll get the name of the book later and post that for you as i dont know where my copy is right now. It should answere most all questions you might have about the Mac.
