So far the standings for Paul's Best song are:

I Saw Her Standing There
All My Loving
And I Love Her

I'm putting up the next three albums now.  Vote away

"You Wont See Me" is Pauls best and the best song on the entire album in my opinion.

I went with "You Won't See Me" as well.

Honestly, I'm not really crazy about any of Paul's contributions to this album, but this one would be the winner of the bunch I suppose.

I think they are all great numbers.

Drive my car..great Bass line..with some powerful singing..
Michelle..again..great bass..and an instant pop classic. The genre is caught so well.
You Wont see me... a Mature moody piece, which really shows the advancement.

I'm Looking Through You tips it for me..the great guitar opening..the end-improv..the style of singing..just a great song!

I'll explain my vote.  I picked Drive My Car.  It's very fun to listen to while driving, for one.  Two, it's a very upbeat, very funny tune to begin with.  Three, it kicks major butt

You Won't See Me is cool too.  So is the elegant Michelle, and I'm Looking Through You is a song that some of us could relate too, definitely.  But Drive My Car takes the cake

I'm looking Through You....one of Paul's finest moments as an artist during this period.

It would be "Baby You Can Drive My Car" because it was one of the hardest Beatle songs to record! There was a interview with Paul where he said this was the hardest song to record of all the beatle's songs!

Drive My Car is the best Macca track. Along with What Goes On, I think Michelle is the worst on the LP.

It's weird to think that the original concept of this album was to be a comedy LP - Michelle was a drunken party-piece of Paul's complete with faux French lyrics (until real French lyrics were added in 1965) and Drive My Car and Norwegian Wood both delivered comic punch-lines!

'Drive My Car'? Are you serious Al? That song is so dumb, even a Paul fanboy like myself cant accept it. Along with 'What Goes On', 'Drive My Car' is easily my most hated track on the album.

Dont you just love conflict?

I voted for Drive My car. It's clever and original. But it's a tough call - Macca is at his prime on this album and they are all great. I too used to despise Michelle. But thinking back I didn't have a copy of RS and I only heard it in isolation on the radio,
Now that I've got vinyl again I really like it. It fits in well with the mood of the album (upbeat, a bit tongue in cheek. You can definately feel the comedy thing Al mentioned). And it's a nice little closer for side 1. (throw away your CD's NOW)

Ban him, Al!

Drive My Car is one of the catchiest songs on the album with a great guitar solo and funny lyrics.  It gets my vote for one of the best on the album

And Al, it was going to be a comedy album? Where did you get this information from?

Had another good listen last night. Even George manages two decent songs. What Goes On fits the mood of the album well (it sounds like they're having a lot of fun. God bless grass).
the only song I would kick off would be Wait - its dull and serious, and sounds more '64 than '65.
I don't know whether it's auto-suggestion, but I can really hear that comedy thing running through the album. A lot of the songs are very tongue-in-cheek. Superb. I am so in love with this album again.
I played Help! straight after, and the difference in the backing vocals really hit me. They are really much more imaginative (or stoned) on RS

I know The Beatles didn't care much for Wait either, but somehow I have always liked it. To me, the weakest song is Run For Your Life.

I used to think RFYL was morbid, now I see it as funny (Al's comedy thing again). Georges guitar is great and the song chugs along nicely. I can live with it

I can only imagine that when John fronted up and said "I've written a song about killing your woman" they all had a good laugh, and didn't go "yes, this a human emotion we need to explore."
But on second thoughts, John was at the height of his Dylan thing, and maybe he deliberateky set out to write a non-Beatle sounding lyric (irony I guess). Plus the Stones were knocking out Yesterdays Papers, Underr My Thumb etc, so chauvinism was a very in thing at the time.

John said he lifted some of the lyrics to Run For Your Life from Elvis' 'Baby Let's Play House' - he also said he always hated RFYL! I personally think it's a top tune - would it have been better suited to Beatles For Sale though because of its country feel? Although it sort of feels like a step backwards, it was - as far as I recall - the last track recorded for Rubber Soul!!

EXTRACT FROM THE LYRICS OF "BABY LET'S PLAY HOUSE"
Now listen to me, baby
Try to understand.
I'd rather see you dead, little girl,
Than to be with another man.
Now baby,
Come back, baby, come.
Come back, baby, come.
Come back, baby, I wanna play house with you.

Wasn't Wait held over from Help!?

I went for You Won't See Me. Though it was close. DMC is one of PM's catchiest tunes.
