Ok, there seems to be quite a large Pink Floyd following here. I love 60's and early 70's music, but I just can't get into Pink Floyd. To be honest, they make me sleepy! My husband and my brother are both really into them but I just can't get it. Why are they so good, and is there anyone else who finds them boring?

They are not a bit boring, i think they are the 2nd greatest band, right behind the beatles...uhh,If you think of music as an art you will begin to like them, if they make you sleepy listen to Dark side of the moon to make you go to sleep! |

I can see how some of their songs may seem very mellow, but they do have a lot of songs that are more upbeat. If that's the word to use. Probably not. Listen to some of the songs off Wish You Were Here and The Wall. AND their early stuff!! Very different Floyd sound. You have to really listen to get the big picture. They're not just mellow drug music that's for sure! They're awesome. |

Just listened to Tracks off Meddle, Dark Side..,and Animals for the first time in a while and come home to see this thread. How strange....lol

Okay, totally off the topic of Floyd's music, but related to the band. On a Pink Floyd forum there's a thread called The Sexiest Pink Floyd Member and ROGER WATERS is winning?? Am I missing something there? I mean the guy was brilliant, but sexy??  |

COOL!! Anyway, have you seen some of the Beatles threads? Some of them are PRETTY brutal! Saying Ringo has no talent and that they are repetitive and they have LESS talent than Floyd (I mean I love Floyd and all, but come on!) and my favorite: they are overrated because they are just some boy band that came out at the right time and all their songs sound the same. ???? Don't get it. |

Some are. Some are in the Pink Floyd forum. The Better Band Who's Got More Talent one is there. Then there's the Beatles VS Floyd thread. Which is funny. I mean really now. It's a Floyd forum, who do ya think won!! And I do believe there's a thread called something like Beatles Overrated. That's just a few I can think of. You know, for a group of people who say they don't like the Beatles, they sure do a lot of talking about them!!! Oh, and there's also one called Who's the Greatest Band Ever that has some flimsy arguments on why the Beatles are overrated. Sheesh! |

Thanks you have convinced me to give them another go. I actually like lots of different types of music, from nostalgia and classical to alternative power-pop, so I am quite open-minded about music. Maybe I just haven't been listening to the right Pink Floyd stuff! |
