...it's Hey Jude.

I've grown far, far more appreciative of this song after watching the Anthology Video a few more times and listening to the song on CD.  Gawd, when you see them perform it, they are having a BLAST.  It's obvious they all love Julian and played their hearts out for him.

And that coda... if anything can bring an audiance together and get people in a great mood, it's that coda.  What a powerful way to end such a terrific song.

Just thought I'd give Hey Jude it's dues

It's my all time favorite Beatles song. You're right that it can unite people, it's like an anthem and everyone can sing along to the na na na na's.

You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.

Yes yes I agree, an AMAZING song, I've talked to people who listen to completly different styles of music, and hate the Beatles, but always say that they love that song.

I've seen the Paul McCartney dvd once or twice and I love seeing the huge sold out arena singing along at the end. And Jack Nicholson singing along is just as awesome...

Very great song.

Like you say, they do appear to be having fun, which was rare for them at that point.  Even the little lead in where they're mucking around with David Frost (singing "David Frost....David Frost") makes me grin.  So yeah, I agree, it's Hey Jude.

That's why the picture below is my favourite of Paul & John - despite all the hassles that they were going through, they could still enjoy the music.  And that's what we're left with - the music

Here's another clue for you all; the Walrus was Paul...

I would agree, even non Beatles fans can't help being drawn in by the coda.  Especially when they've had a few too many.  I guessed by the subject that you were talking about Hey Jude before I read your post, I think it is pretty obvious!

Absolutely!!!!!!! Just gigged Hey JUde as the last encore on Saturday night. Everyone in the building just singing and singing without the music for about 5minutes....Then I brought my bass back in and funked it up a bit and then we all came back in.....Absolutely Brilliant!!!! It's the only song of many I have performed that has that power over people!

Hey Jude = <3333333333

It IS such a fantastic song. Whenever i'm talking to people, it's basically -- "You like the Beatles?" "*nod* Yeah. =D" "What's your favourite song?" "Oh...[lists]" "I really like Hey Jude," -- and I LOOOOVE the 'na na na NA NA NA NA...'s. <3333 It's just...whoa. Indescribably great. It's a perfect song, really. o_o
