egoethically hendrix was not...a plus, where as edric gave a spit about how people percieved him.....and besides they play different genres.....mainly clapton was blues hendrix was progressive blues rock...i always thought edric paid too much attention to what he was playing and hendrix just played without trying....duane could play like that too

Odd pairing. I'd have to go for Hendrix on this one. Far more influential than Clapton. Though I've never been a huge fan of either.

I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.

I would say Page but hes not on here. So...hmm...its a tough one. They both have a great feel for the guitar. But I think people hold Hendrix on a pedistal because he died so young. They are both equal, Clapton isn't as creative showman-wise but still awesome nonetheless.

Agree   ... I'd love to see how his career would have gone in the seventies and till today ...

Clapton.

He is the guitar. Hendrix seems too hmmm I don't know. I just like Claptons style better he seems to make the guitar "speak" more.

Clapton!! I think Hendrix is a little overrated...

I like both Clapton & Hendrix, but each one has a different style.  My preference is for Clapton but Jimi Hendrix was very ahead of his time and had a unique style.
