Sorry to dig up an old post, but I searched the forum for help on setting my own avatar. I tried uploading a photo to http://www.tinypic.com, but it didn't show up. I don't think tinypic and those other uploading sites (e.g. imageshack) allow use of images for avatars(?). So how do I get my personalised avatar on this site? Do I have to have my own server and upload the image on that?

Hmm, that was a bit complicated. I'm not that much of a technical wiz

^^Upload whichever photo you want to use to something like Photobucket.com and resize it so that it's no more than 100 X 100 and copy the URL ("direct link" on Photobucket) to the box on the "avatar settings" page on your profile. The only other thing to remember is to crop the photo so that it's square before you upload it.

Hmm okay, I'll try that. My computer broke down the other day so I'll have to wait though.. I think my harddisk died So sad for me - I know very little about the inside of a PC, so I'll have to wait for my boyfriend to fix it (and magically make everything work like it used to, I hope )
