Just found this thread. I play both guitar and drums. Never really had the confidence to try out for bands because I completely suck at both. I'm finding myself strongly drawn towards learning the bass as it's technically the rhythm section. I could never be arsed at learning scales.
My aim is to become good enough to start a Beatles cover band - it'll take some time but it's time I'm willing to invest
'Did you ever hear of the Seattle Seven? That was me.... and... six other guys.'
I'm a drummer and our band 'The Gardens' (named after the municipal tenement block we lived in) played a Beatles set at Liverpool's Mathew Street Festival this year at a pub on Lime street called The Head of Steam (it's part of the train station) and although the drums in this Macca track doesn't extend me at all, the guitarist who played Mandolin on it has posted in onto Youtube - see http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=UXKkgkVaLBg
We tried to do a set that wasn't the normal singles hits type so went for songs like ps I love you, Norwegian wood, No reply, Things we said today and Ob la di - ob la da amongst others. I got my solo bit on Abbey Road's 'The end' though

It's really fun around the house on weekends, my daughter has really taken to music wonderfully as well as my son....
I've learned how to play the flute and the guitar. Between the two, I prefer the guitar. I used to do both classical and rock guitar, but I liked rock better. Busting out some Beatles or Stones tunes was a great way to de-stress.
