None of my fav drummers are in this catagory so i can't vote. my fav drummers are Jim Kelter, Paul Hester (crowded house), Abe Laboriel Jr, Levon Helm (the band), Pete Thomas , bev Bevan..etc I suppose i would vote for Keith Moon out of that list though.
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY TO THE WHITE ALBUM! you say its your birthday!
I voted for Keith Moon. I'm not a great Who fan, but there's just no-one else like him. Otherwise, John Bonham would be my choice. Terry Bozzio is an excellent drummer, and a wonder to hear live. I'm afraid I have no idea who Neil Peart is.
I just want you to reassure him - talk to him, make him see the error of his ways. Then I'll hit him.
If anyone has any doubts, watch Moon's solo here. Please. And this clip doesn't even show how fast his arms are really moving. He's super human. Who can do that??? And more importantly, who the hell was doing it back then? He was f-ing amazing. Completely original.
Yeah, but Moon wasn't into solos. He found them boring like most people do. In that clip he was just playing his a** off! That wasn't really a solo it's unfair to compare it to 10 minute thought out solos. When I watch Moon I can't take my eyes off of him. When I watch those other drummers I feel like it's intermission time. Also, I believe that if f Moon had wanted to sit and work out some complicated drum solo, I'm sure he would have blown most people away. When he did the stuff he did he was like 17, 18 years old and NO ONE was doing it. Not in the rock world and not at 18. Did you see his arms fly?? The guy was super human. He also felt the music. His drumming was less time keeping or whatever and more muical. Ah! I love him!!!!!!!! So obviously I'm being biased here but oh well. He's still f-ing amazing.
