Just read a review of Help! and the man reckons "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" is about Brian Epsteins gay crush on him!
After 30 odd years of Beatleology this is news to me.
Anyone else heard this?

yeah, in a book i read it said they had sex, and it was mentioned more than once...im taking this book to be a pretty good source, because it was written by peter brown.

i swear to god it said it in the book. i wasn't sure it was true @ 1st, but i did some research and it just might be true. peter brown was pretty close to john, u know? but idk...it could be made up.

As for YGTHYLA, I think it makes total sense to be written to Brian.

i'll check that out. did u like the book? im almost done with it, it's pretty big so i'll read chunks of it @ a time and then leave it 4 awhile, then go back.

Hm. I'm not gonna call John's sexuality into question (lol, I'm a bit of a slash fan. x3;, but it DOES sound like was written for/about Brian. It seems to fit the entire scenerio pretty well. :O

Peter Brown was a lying prick.  Don't buy it.

It was surmised by someone somewhere that it might be about Brian hiding his sexuality.  Realistically that just doesn't make much sense.  It's like coming up with an answer to a question never asked.

Even if he HAD written it to or about Brian, that has no bearing on him being gay (which he wasn't).

Peter Brown was close to the beatles and wounded them all mightily when he wrote that book.  He lied, and he also told secrets he sholdn't have.  

Nothing like being an ex-friend of the beatles I guess.

There you go....I heard that..It has been written and documented a lot of times about Brian's feelings for John....True or not....So what? The crush bit may have had nothing to do with it and maybe John wrote it anyway with Brian and other gays he may have known in mind.....No biggy.

Maybe he (Lennon) had a crush on someone himself...And I'm not speculating about which sex. lol

I think it's fair to say that John was impressed and fascinated with Brian, but stopped short of an affair.

Over the years, John shagged a lot of women (including a Chiffon I think... my sweet Lord!!), but only one unfounded gay rumour has EVER surfaced. Draw your own conclusions from that!
