I downloaded two of the 5.1 isolation tracks for A Day In The Life, to see if I can hear the echo ahhhh part clearer.

Boy, can you! Both the rear right and left have a different 'take' on it, the music drops out and it's all you hear. Perfect clarity.

After listening to both repeatedly closely and loudly, I can only say that...

I don't have a flickin clue who it is anymore. It is like uber-Beatle. It sounds like John, it sounds like Paul, and not enough like either one of them to say for certain.

In it's bare state it does sound like the John I always assumed it was, but not so much that you can't say...hmmm...that COULD be Paul. I even thought it was both but clearly it's not.

Bottom line: it's whoever you want it to be. I would not say it isn't John, nor would I say it isn't Paul. And whatever 'proof' I *thought* I had seen somewhere be damned.

I think the same, it sounds like both

I have to listen to it a couple hundred more times (I wish I had a place topost it so anyone could download it and hear it as well...it IS currently in the alt. Beatle binary newsgroups).

It's the darndest thing tho. the way their voices could be so similar...like Anytime At All where John sings everything except the 2nd line of each chorus. Or Paul jumping in for the high lines in Hard Day's night. We notice it now but for years it was always just assumed to be one singer.

...Did'nt think the thread would explode like that....I used to think it was John singing all the way thru on AHDN till Lenny Pane said that's your bit to sing when we covered it. lol. They are always at it with the jumpin and thro'in....We had some difficulty once workin out who should sing what backin line in Paperback Writer...Had to just double check live at the Budokan and go with that. There are loads off debateables.....Should dig up some more Mr.C.
