TK, did'nt Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick also play on D.F.? I think I read somewhere that Rick had come to the sessions with hopes of talking to John About the Beatles and especially his guitar collection, But John just brought out a couple of his old guitars and just blew Nielsen off.

You can hear his version of "I'm Losing You" with Rick, Tom Petterson, and Bun E. Carlos on the boxed set or the 'Wonsopoatime' CD. Their version kicked a**. Bun E. Carlos said Yoko kicked them out because they were just using John. He said she was an "F**ing B**ch".

LOL ........ I dont doubt! Thanks JR, I'll check their version out. I have both disc's. I think I just forgot about it. You know a funny thing is that Cheap Trick were very hot at the time with the sucess of the Live At Budakhan and Dream Police lps and John, I'm sorry to was kinda forgotten due to his long engagement at his Dakota bedroom. I dont see how Yoko could have thought anyone was using John, other than herself, at that time

But she was Mommy and he did what she said. Here's part of an interview with Rick Nielsen, I couldn't find the one where Bun E. was more outspoken:
But the session that I most wanted to know about were the legendary John Lennon "Double Fantasy" sessions with Cheap Trick in 1980. Only three songs were recorded before Yoko banned Cheap Trick, citing that they were using John. I told Rick that I recently found a bootleg with the three unreleased Cheap Trick/John Lennon tracks. He asked, "so, could you tell the difference?" I sure could, the tracks seemed to rock more, with even Yoko's song sounding inspiring. Rock comments, "that's the only way you could handle it, have us behind her voice & you need kind of schizophrenic stuff going on." But, why did the band do only one session with Lennon? Nielsen didn't blast Yoko, just explained diplomatically, "we were asked to do more for vocals. What I call those John Lennon baby voices (sings a little). But & ah & by then they were finished. We didn't get lucky enough to play on that one." Still no real answer as to why the recordings didn't wind up on the final record.
I also admit that my opinions on Double Fantasy are coloured by how I felt at the time. I was listening to Talking Heads, Joy Division et al and along comes John with an album about how how much he loves his wife and kid. Maybe I should listen to it again (haven't since '80) and see if it or I have changed.
Exactly! I always thought John was the "punkrocker" in the Beatles and i wait and wait to hear something from him and then he made album, which sounds like Paul. (not that i have anything agains pauls music - but- well, you know ). But then again, i remember him saying that making this record was kinda way of telling his old fans whats goes on in his life right now, so it doesnt sound like he was trying to get new (punk) fans. Tell you the truth, when i listen that LP at the time, his life sounded kinda ..boring. Well, at least for 21 years old punk rocker. Maybe i should listen it again too.. I also listen to it last time when it got out and now i am 42 - about the same age than when he recorded it- ...Uh, thats weird! Gotta borrow it from library and have a listen. (i sell all my LPs when cds come around..). Kevin B !!! let me hear, what you think about it after listening to it, i am curious to know, as we are kinda like in the same situation right now...
It's too long for me, ... and boring after few seconds (the same with Cold Turkey, but at least Cold Turkey has interesting lyrics). The guitar riff is annoying too (the same with Cold Turkey again).
