Back in MY day, Polly Pocket used to actually fit in your pocket! And she didn't have all of these fancy accessories. And we didn't have iPods either. We had to make do with burning our MP3s to CD's!
Not to mention, we didn't have DVDs. We had to actually rewind our cassette tapes!
Oh, and we had One Saturday Morning, one of the best cartoon lineups ever.

BTW, I was joking when I said we had it hard. Far from it. I think we were one of the most spoiled generation of kids out there. Which is why reality was a really hard concept to relate too. I still don't think I've gotten it down quite right yet.

There were sell-out hippie yuppies and there were young yuppies too. But I wasn't saying that YOU were one! Ever hear that joke...

A yuppie is driving down the road, yapping on his new cell phone when he crashes into a street lamp. "My BMW!" he cries. " My beautiful BMW!"
A police officer walks by and says, "You've more to worry about than your car. Your arm was just torn off!"
"My Rolex watch!" cries the yuppie. "My beautiful Rolex!"

Polly Pocket?? Never heard of her. But I'm sure you've never heard of Tiffany Tuesday. The doll with the reversable hair! Oh, and Cher dolls. So great. I once hung it up in the refridgerator so that when someone opened the door it would fly out at them. That's how scary THAT doll was! BTW, I feel so sad for you having to go through all the trouble of burning those cd's. We only had to sit by the radio for hours and hours waiting for a song you liked to come on so you could TAPE it on a crappy little cassete tape!! Boy, did I appreciate that mix when it was done. Heh, also, if this doesn't make ou sad, I don't know what will, I actually had to tape the Yellow Submarine on one of those cassette tapes because we didn't even have VCR's yet!!!! Ah!!

Wow, a Cher doll. That does sound frightening. o_O

I remember holding a tape recorder up to the TV speakers during the Little Mermaid, so I could have it on tape and listen to it in the car like a freakin' radio play. I thought I was the only kid who ever did that.

OMG. I did that all the time. My little blue tape recorder was like the greatest gift I ever got. I taped everything!! I actually found one of my old tapes, and I was going on to one of my friends about music class and some annoying kids screaming to the teacher, "Put Ozzy on! Put Ozzy on!."  That poor teacher. I can't believe how fast I used to talk. What was that about?

Hahaha. You should hear me talking. No one can understand me half the time. They think I'm french or something.

I taped things alllll the time, like ALF reruns and once me and my sister made up a Salmon Preservation Society and acted like important adults. My mom wasn't very happy when Isobel taped over her John Allan Cameron tape with Sailor Moon, though.

I think we might still have some of those tapes, I must dig them up. I'd be nice to hear her voice.

I SO wish I still had my tape of me and my friends acting like the Beatles. I remember interviewing my best friend when she was Ringo. I wonder if we even used English accents. Probably not.

LOL, once me and my friend made a really stupid tape which was just basically us talking in incredibly fake Irish accents and making crunching sounds with cookies. I must have been about 7 or 8, because we were listening to B*witched at the time. Ah, B*witched...
